Mafia Definitive Edition

I remember playing this back in the day but for some reason not completing it, I always meant to go back and never did. So picked this remastered up and while they've modernized it and not all for the better, the story is compelling start to finish. It's a beautiful world to play in there's no doubt about that but I find it strange that I'm having more fun recently with decades old games like this than I have done with almost anything in the last few years.

Path of Eternity 2: Deadfire 7/10

Cons
The flow of the game is terrible.
Takes a long time to "get into" the game.
Ship combat is so boring.
Too many companions.
Weapon selection for professions is not balanced.
Equipment customisation is very basic.
Loading times are abysmal.
At times I felt like there should have been options to resolve quests that weren't there.
Shops felt a little pointless, as well as their items.
Bounties felt pointless.
Fetch quests.

Pros
Can customise party.
Couple of expansive side stories.
Big map, free roam.
Interactivity with party members is decent but could be better.
Quests are of decent length.
It's an rpg.

I was really enjoying it until it got to the "which of these boring factions do you want to side with? NONE? Okay, do some tedious trawling the map for rare materials so you don't have to pick one" bit

Yep, this part annoyed me too. Didn't seem to be a way to join all the factions either.

Ace Combat 7 - 6.5/10

Pros:
- Great visuals,
- Good range of aircraft,
- Option for online multiplayer.

Cons:
- Ridiculous difficulty spikes,
- Inconsistent difficulty level across missions,
- The last mission,
- Poor writing,
- Cheating AI / unfair advantage.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
More of the same really, not necessarily a bad thing but having only recently completed Rise of the Tomb Raider it all got too similar.

It completes a good trilogy of games. Only advise don't play them in succession.

Disco Elysium

I feel I really lived a strange alternate life as an alcoholic sorrycop. For at least a moment in time. Before everything sprials into nothingness again. Sorry, I'm not a very good cop.

Sorry.

9/10

The only possible drawbacks are that I wanted it to go on for longer, and I realised right at the end that almost all the choices I'd been making and thinking momentous probably didn't actually make very much difference to how it all panned out (but it did superbly at making me feel like they made a difference at the time, which, well... is not nothing).

Sorry.

Wouldn't particularly consider this a drawback for this game. Is that not how Harry feels about everything? Like every minor thing he does requires extreme effort and is a make or break decision
For someone who can have a psychotic break from a single bad conversation it feels apt

That's an interesting take, and I guess it does kind of fit the general pervading theme of hopelessness and existential dread if you look at it that way.

I set my Harry on something of a redemptive arc, or so I thought. In the end it kind of made a difference. A bit. But not so much. In some ways, I might just as well have given in to being a hopeless boozehound all along. Which I guess is how he ended up where he did at the start of the game...

Just finished AC Odyssey complete with First Blade and Atlantis DLC.

Solid 8.5/10 - For the most part good story telling, Kassandra never gets old, the voice acting for her is awesome. The game started to get a little bit samey towards the end. Far preferred it to Origins.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - 9/10

This one is well worth a purchase. Looks brilliant and runs incredibly well with 140+ FPS. I believe it uses the same game engine as Doom. It has a great story and the gun play is solid. 12 hours of carnage for the price is a bargain. Nazi killing has never been so fun.

Just bought this for £8 it's the obsidian version so comes with everything. If the game turns up rubbish then i have only lost less than a tenner.

If i remember right there was a couple of weird levels i didn't like very much
(Or am i getting confused with thinking of the Alien levels in half-life i didn't like )

It's quite common to hear that about both games though I still enjoyed the xen/alien parts to HL.

I also enjoyed the same with regard to Crysis though there was more of a noticeable dip in the game for me by that point...
... plus the fact that my system was struggling like mad to give an acceptable frame rate - though I'm sure I wasn't alone there! :D

Jedi fallen order:
Reasonable game probably not worth full price.
I enjoyed playing through it.
World layout was not great and the map was terrible. It was easy to get lost and very confusing when trying to find a route back to an area. I didn't care much for the collectables so was only interested in the story.
