Baldurs Gate 3. Took my time and only completed it on the 3rd walk through. 333hrs in total.

Awesome game
Maybe you can help ... I bought the game in beta so played that a lot but when it was released I watched too many videos about making OP characters and then I suddenly didnt want to play it anymore because I was afraid it would be too easy/boring. Any suggestions? ... Just make a character and play or is it really easy with a planned character like this?

Just finished a Halo playthrough. In the space of two weeks, all MCC games, best was Reach, 9/10, then Halo 3 and ODST 8.5/10, Halo, 2 and 4 8/10.

Need to play the Mass Effect series next but currently playing through Horizon Zero Dawn and then Forbidden West.
you rate them that high huh? ... I was debating about playing them after I saw the show (loved the show) - played halo a bit many years ago but thought it might not be as fun with the graphics ...?

Just finished re4 remake, which I played all the way through on the Steam deck. I never played the original as it deviated quite a bit from the previous games.
It's a decent game, but not as good as the hype had me believe.
Bought it last summer and wasn't able to play on my desktop due to Nvidia driver issues on Linux causing all kinds of nightmares with this specific game. I then got bit by denuvo while trying out different proton versions, so gave up on it until this year.
Wouldn't buy again because of denuvo locking me out when I wanted to play and because of that this is the last game with it that I'll ever purchase.

Otherwise it's alright. 6/10

I can only really speak for the first game. The master chief collection has remastered graphics which do vastly improve it.
The game was excellent when it came out and is still decent. Best played co-op or versus.
I got a bit bored after the first game. The second was an improvement, but still there are sections that seem to go on forever and get a bit repetitive, so didn't complete it.

Play it how ya like want, no one is forcing you to use tougher characters.
For example, you can use the provided characters and avoid multiclassing.
That on its own increases the challenge.

Half Life 2 Episode 1 - 8 / 10

Really good fun. Having just completed the original Half Life expansions, opposing force and blue shift, the leap in technology is clear to see when playing episode 1. The graphics for the most part still looks pretty good. In some areas on the Steam Deck OLED's screen it looks fantastic. The pitch black underground car park with only the torch to light the scene looks incredible all these years later. A few nice puzzles and really amazing level design impress too. Really solid gameplay throughout the 3.5 hour playtime except the NPC escort mission at the end which dragged on a bit.

Poison headcrabs can do one though.

GTA The Trilogy The Defective Editions

After putting it off for over two years I finally bit the bullet and purchased them whilst on 50% sale. Overall thoroughly I enjoyed my time back in Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas.

They are a long way from the look of the games I remember on PS2, both to their detriment and benefit. Liberty City feels very different. But given how much I disliked it when playing on PS2 that might be a good thing, i actually wanted to stick around this time. Some of the GTA 3 missions also feel very dated with cheap gotcha deaths to odd enemies in some of the missions. Also the city effetely locking you of previous islands due to the gangs all trying to kill you as you progress through the game is incredibly annoying. Overall my view of GTA3 has improved, especially the sound track as the image radio really does have a good late 90s very early 2000s vibe to it. Vice City remains as one of the greatest games of all time IMHO. San Andreas is a bit of a difficult one, Personally I've always though Vice City to be the better game despite SA being technically superior and this just confirms it. SA at times feel too long, a bit bloated and with too much busy work on the side to be able to progress the story. I also find the radio station to be a bit lacklustre which really doesn't help.

All three games seem far easier then they used to be, or i have just got a lot better at playing them, It was very satisfying to complete a few mission i never could on the PS2 (looking at you The Driver and Supply Lines and most of GTA 3).

Bug wise, I didn't encounter anything major apart from a few floating cars and leaves in GTA 3. They are definitely improved and nowhere near as bad as I was lead to believe they were at launch.

Overall 8/10 They are remaster of 20 year old games and feel like it at times, but good for the nostalgia hit and still very satisfying to complete.

They are well worth playing and very enjoyable. But the original games are over 20 years old and remasters do feel like it at times. Personally I find most of the flood levels in CE and 2 are something to be endured rather than enjoyed as much better levels lie ahead. I would however recommend also looking into some of the books (you can get them as audio books). I'm not sure if they will contradict what is in the TV show but they do help fill some of the plot holes in the games and flesh out the world.

Dragon's Dogma 2 - 9/10

I haven't technically finished yet (Done the main story) as you can get a bit of extra content with the alternate ending. So apart from the technical issues (I didn't really have an issue at 1080p with a 5700X and 6700XT) this game was an absolute blast. So much to do if you just go off an explore. Really looking forward any DLC.

Finally moved on, at least temporarily, from my Yakuza/LAD binge that stretches back to the end of last year:

Yakuza 0 - really loved this one, a great intro to Kiryu and Majima. Got hooked on a few minigames too. 9/10

Yakuza K2 - quite liked the Dragon engine, but missed the variety of fighting styles from 0. Goda was a cool adversary, as was the Jingweon. Overall, very fun and cool. 8.5/10

Yakuza 3 - combat and general in-game QoL features took a nosediver here, to be honest. But I did like the Uncle Kaz moments and how they developed Kiryu's character arc. It had a bit of lacklustre feel, in some places, whilst also having some good characters and story beats. 7/10

Yakuza 4 - three new characters! Some more fun to fight with than others (I did not enjoy the early game combat with Saejima...). Ended up quite liking all the characters in the end, and spent a bit longer in this one. 8/10

Yakuza 6 - I skipped 5 becaue of the HLTB time. Too big! Story was a bit all over the place, but I liked the more tender nurturing side of Kiryu we saw a bit more of again. And Beat Takeshi made an appearance, which came as a suprise part way through the story! 8/10

LAD Gaiden - a bit more of an up-to-date game in terms of QoL. Combat was a bit bananas, especially the agent style. The juggling looked odd, but I didn't actually manage to pull it off very often so wasn't unduly troubled by it. Lots of things were fun about this one, and the ending was emotional. I very much enjoyed seeing the link-ups with Kiryu's past and future stories and the crossover with Ichiban. 8/10

LAD Ishin - totally different setting, and one I wasn't sure I would like, but eneded up very much immersed in. Ended up being a great story in a setting that was both fun and interesting to see more of. Makes me want to play more games in the late Edo period. Quite grindy in places, but I also got hooked on some of the grinding elements and spent too much time in "another life" on the little farm... 8.5/10

Phew! Will leave it a while now before getting into Infinite Wealth, I think, but what a series this has been overall!

Thanks for the great write up, I started Yakuza 0 over 1.5 years ago, and stopped playing, keep meaning to pick it back up. It must have taken a long time to get through all those Yakuza games, as there is so much to do.
Did you have any performance issues with the Like A Dragon games, as they all use Denuvo?

I did the same thing. For some reason, I bounced off Yakuza 0 the first time I installed it. I think it felt a bit "consoley" perhaps, in the game menu navigation and minigames and some gameplay elements clearly being clearly designed with a controller in mind.

Once I got past that, though, and found it's perfectly playable using mouse and keyboard (though I think most people would prefer controller, tbf), I got into really quickly.

They all ran perfectly fine. No performance issues I noticed, and I don't think I had a single crash on any game except Yakuza 3, where I had two or three over my playthrough.

Half Life 2 Episode 2 - 8.5 / 10

This felt more like a full game than an expansion. Very good. Some excellent set pieces like the turret section, the ambush and the strider battle. How could Valve leave the Half Life story on such a downer (I know about the Half Life Alyx retcon).

Really awesome game and series as a whole. Not many modern titles come close.

Mass Effect: Andromeda - 9/10

Felt just like a Mass Effect game. Yes, there's a bit of an initial "yikes!" at the beginning because everything is different from the original trilogy but I soon got into the swing of things throwing wonderful booming biotic combos around. The new crew are decent enough that I ended up caring for them in the end. Graphics are marvellous, some of the locations are really nicely done. I understand it was a bit of a pickle at launch but playing it these days, it's a very good game in its own right.

It's a shame, but at least no bitter memories exist of something that should have been better!
I've still got to play alyx. One day I'll dust off the headset or buy a new one and play it.

Finished Leon's story in Resident Evil 2 Remake, approximately 25 years after playing Claire's story on a mate's old PS1. (I feel old!!)

I thought this was an absolute masterpiece of tense, menacing horror. I kept having to take breaks from playing every hour or so! They got so much right with updating the game for modern hardware. The boss fights weren't it's strongest point, I didn't think (in fact, I thought they were a bit of a letdown and the one element that didn't fit the new engine that well), those sewer monsters can damn well jog on, and Mr. X did go from terrifying to annoying after a little while, but most everything else was great. 9/10

I've left it installed to play through Claire's story again to see how it's changed from the original, but I need a break from the tension for a bit! Going to have to play the RE3 Remake as well. I never played the original of that one, so it will all be new.

A Plague Tale: Requiem - solid 8

Beautiful looking game, decent follow up story and voice acting - although I can also see it grating on some people. Gameplay for the most part is similar to the first. If you liked the first chances are you'll like this. Similarly if you hated the first, not enough has changed for you to like this. There are 1 or 2 super annoying bits but overall, I really enjoyed it.
