Why is everyone using spoiler tags in a spoiler thread?
I agree with you, Haggisman. When you had to switch on that generator and the bloater was after you... Phew, that was scary. I decided to leg it rather than take them on and got to the keycard door, tried the handle, insert the card, open the door, all while the bloater got nearer and nearer. I was screaming like a little girl, too!
This thread should be used for those that have the game and want to discuss the story. Please still use spoiler tags and when posting a spoiler please state where you are in the game by either how many hours in or by chapter.
Just completed it last night and was absolutely blown away from start to finish.
For me the game has definetely been set up for sequels in the way that it ended.....firstly with the lack of choices on how it ends, meaning that the next game will carry on from where it left off and now the remaining fireflys will be after her and even more so considering Joel shot their leader.....but aside of that as a person that never really plays console games these days, this has been one of the best gaming experiences Ive had since MGS1, Resident Evil 1/2 and Final Fantasy 7 back in the day...a true masterpiece and I feel sorry people who dont play games to miss out on such an emotional rollercoaster of a game....10/10 Naughty Dog well done.
P.s did anyone think Joel was a bit of a Phsycopath, with no remorse for any human life bar his own and Ellies.....slaughtering the guards after getting the information on Ellie's whereabouts after waking up and then killing Marlene after she asked for mercy....quite a nasty man in that respect.
So I just completed this game today. It was really really good. I've had it for about a month but have found it hard to play because it was so god damn intense. If it wasn't for the story and how quickly I became attached to the characters I don't think I would have finished it due to being a pussy. Although saying that, if I didn't feel attached to the characters there probably wouldn't be that intensity to begin with...
I did the first part of Winter last week up until
the horsie dies
then I finished the rest of winter yesterday. That was simply awesome! The bow was easily the best weapon for that chapter. One shot kills, and it attracts others to go to the body and stand still plus I don't know what the chance of the arrow breaking was but it seemed low so there was never an ammo issue on the bow front. Then I completed the rest today and I really enjoyed it. I think the standout points for me where always the cutscenes and usually when Ellie showed she was, and still is, a child. Also all the ones involving animals were nice like the horse at tommy's, or monkeys, or giraffes. I don't know if I would have prefered the game if I could have been invincible, although the more I think about it, the more that would probably detract from my desire to keep them alive (seeing as they can't die) and then in turn reduced how much I care about them and then how much I care about the game. Nothing was really difficult I suppose, it was just scary
I tried out the multiplayer afterwards, it was quite fun, although I was a bit out of my depth, it took a lot of bullets to kill others (presumably because they're a higher level). I also have the DLC to play at some point, that should be pretty good I imagine.
I didn't buy this when it came out on ps3 because I don't like scary games but after recomandations from friends and being told it wasn't scary I bought it on release for the ps4.
I'm glad I did. Such an amazing game with a fantastic story and the graphics were amazing too.
I did feel that they could have put a lot of jumps scares in certain places but I'm glad they didn't. The horror was about real survival with low ammo and other items.
I still haven't played the left behind DLC but its something I'm going to try after Christmas.
My biggest regret was buying it digital and not a physical copy
Just finished this on brothers ps4. Quite liked the story towards the end, thought the combat was OK but weapons swayed a bit too much until upgraded (not helped by the horrible ps4 thumbsticks /controller) . I thought generally the stealth /enemy Ai was poorly executed (sometimes clickers would randomly you see you).
Overall tho good game and quite a cool ending! (Joel overall just seems ridiculously selfish and a bit unlikeable tho tbh)
Just finished this, what a truly great game. I don't know why i held off from buying this when it came out but it's amazing. One of the very few games i actually wanted to watch the cut scenes rather than skip them. Going to give Left Behind a blast tomorrow.
Joel was selfish but I can understand it. I would imagine a lot of people with daughters on here would do the same in his position. I thought it was a great contrast at the end to what happened with him at the beginning.
I've had a PS3 for years now and only ever used it as a media player. That was until November when somebody lent me this "must play game". WOW what an absolutely fabulous game, good enough to have me persevere with the game pad . I now have the PS4 and have ordered my own copy of TLOU so I can play through the remastered version. Oh and I re homed my gaming PC before Christmas and I'm finally enjoying the play station in the living room with the wood burner on and dog and cat at my feet. Not tucked up in the back room out of the way. This game has changed my life!
As has already been said, fantastic story line, voice acting and characters. Looking forward to TLOU 2.
