I'm fed up with all the "Britain is going to the dogs" rubbish I hear spouted all the time, so let's all write/ post something good about the country that most of us are lucky enough to inhabit.

I would request that dons remove the posts of all haters, as there are plenty of "Daily Mail"- inspired threads where you can bitch and moan, and I want this to remain a happy solace.

I'll start:

Our countryside is beautiful. Other countries are nice too, but i like ours the best.

Our beer is the best in the world, bar none.

We have consistently made the funniest TV comedy in the world for 30-odd years, and nobody has really come close apart from the Irish and they don't really count anyway

You built the largest empire ever through brutality, inducing famines, disease, war and death numbering in the millions. Many conflicts and political fault lines exist to this day due the intervention and manipulation of British divide and conquer strategies. British history books say how British armies brought "civilization" to other cultures but really it was just a few upper class old boys sending plebs out on to the seas to tear the rest of the world a new one.

Hence why the English are unwelcome in so many countries today.

Ooops sorry wrong thread. Ummm. . .

The Brits can certainly make a good cuppa. Here here.

Oooo... someones got a bee in their bonnet.

It's nice how you overlook the amount of good things the brits did for the rest of the world. For instance the railway through africa that, since they left has been let go to ruin even though it's the only reliable means of transport for hundreds of thousands of people.

Let's also forget the fact that even in our own country we were too busy fighting ourselves to form a decent country until the brits came and gave us someone to fight against together!

We punch way above our weight with good universities. And that's thanks to attracting some of the best academics from around the world.

Quite frankly I can't wait to get out of England - however, I do love Top Gear - so I that might balance things out a bit :p
