It helps if you have a use case and mine is that playing Subnautica on my 980 Ti with a mild OC I still have to use medium preset or high with some options turned down at 3440 x 1440. no problem on max with the 1080 Ti. Next week Kingdom Come: Deliverance is released and that is likely too need some grunt to get it running at even a reasonable pace. I'll probably finish that before the Ti is released!
Plugged the Asus Strix 1080 Ti in last night and "out the box" it was running 1925-45 MHz boost and holding steady at 61-62 Deg C which is impressive for an air cooler. So no need to OC further IMO seeing as it has it already. My 980 Ti being a hybrid runs cooler but noticeable louder as I'm using two fans on the single rad. The 1080 Ti is getting at leas 50%+ improvement in benchmarks games that I've tried so not a bad upgrade. Witcher 3 was smooth at the highest settings and looked gorgeous.
My only regret was not buying an EVGA hybrid early last year which would have cost the same as I paid for the Asus Strix with the OCUK discount.
