The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

There's nothing preventing you owning two clubs. The issue arises when the two clubs are in the same competition. The two Red Bull sides have been mentioned earlier but when Salzburg made the CL they and to a lesser extent Leipzig had to make a lot of structural changes to prove their separation - iinm Red Bull had to give up control of Salzburg. I can't recall the technicalities around it but Salzburg wouldn't be able to receive funding from Red Bull anymore, beyond their sponsorship agreement and various employees couldn't work for them anymore.

Looks like the Qatari's are in, bid expected tomorrow.

Investors linked to the Qatari royal family will bid to buy Manchester United on Friday.

Investors from the US and Saudi Arabia will also bid for the club, Sky Sports News understands, alongside Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS group, which has already made its desire to bid for United public knowledge.

The Raine Group, which is organising the potential sale of the club on behalf of the current owners, the Glazer family, has asked for initial bids to be made by 10pm UK time on Friday.

The Glazers want at least £5bn to sell the club but an insider has told Sky Sports News that no party will want to go big with their initial offer.

You always do...

Extra big.

I just hope that we don't go down the PSG/Chelsea route and instead actually build a sustainable squad for the long term. Top priorities should be the stadium refurb/rebuild and bringing all the facilities up to scratch.

EtH is the man to take us back to competing but we should do in sensibly rather than Chelseas "throw **** at the wall" approach.

Delicious. Look at you all pretending this is awful and nothing you can do. Of course there is, you could all get your green and yellow scalves on and protest like you never have before. You can boycott games. If you all made your voices heard against these “murderous“ regimes they wouldn’t buy your club.

But you won’t, you will bend over, take the money and blame everyone else.

My god are you lot going to look like hypocrites. I genuinely hope you get better buyers, you don’t deserve this.

People don't care, ultimately. Not enough to sacrifice anything....same reason everyone is happy filling their homes with Made In China goods produced by a murderous totalitarian regime.

The selling off of our corporate and cultural assets to the highest bidder will happen no matter how many scarves people wave. We are too far down the capitalist rabbit hole, any suggestions that we step in to stop this happening will be met with screeching hysteria by the corporate interests behind right-wing press that is slurped up by the majority of people here.

So I will simply voice my disapproval on here, same as I disapprove of it happening everywhere else, makes no difference that it's my club, it all sucks....and get on with my life and enjoy the football.

Thats a silly argument. We currently have bloody awful owners we have been trying to get rid of for years. They have sucked huge amounts of money out of the club and United fans have watched as the mismanagement of the club has taken us from the very top of English football to a legacy club.

Now there is the possibility of new owners coming in who would likely fix all of that and the tradeoff is that they are a bit dodgy. Any by a bit dodgy I mean they are scummy as hell, much like every massive company in the world, most any government in the world. Do you see any football fans boycotting Nestle? Not giving Amazon money? Buying an electric car so they don't support the oil industry causing massive damage to the environment and lining their pockets?

Football brings a lot of joy to people and some people don't give many ***** about the politics around it. I would much rather we didn't have an oil company/country buy United but honestly my bigger concern is if they do a PSG or a Chelsea than if they do a City.

A club is not its owners, a club is its fans and its players. Fundamentally most peoples morals are performative and prone to getting forgotten when there is something in it for themselves. I am no better than most in this regard but I try not to take the moral high ground because I don't have to deal with a conundrum like this.

Even if that happened, these people don’t give a monkies about protests, they’ll do whatever they want regardless. That may sound defeatist, but it is what it is. (Hooray for truisms and I just have an image of Jay from the Inbetweeners in terms of their reactions: ‘Ooooh look at them and their little scarves.’)

I personally didn’t comment on Newcastle etc, just think it’s the way of things these days. I don’t like it, but meh.

If it happens, all I want is for it to be ran properly and not like City and the leadership and manager to not be made to buy what the owner wants or go the way of Boehly.

These types of buyers aren’t going anywhere unfortunately.
