The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

December will be a difficult month for United in terms of fixtures. With Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham, away, Chelsea, Bayern and Villa, at home. So, gaining some form and momentum during November will be vita if ETH has any chance of retaining his position at United.
Can easily lose all of those...

ETH will still be here at the end of the season. Sacking him is just lunacy (and expensive to start all over again).

He's a good manager, dealing with a lot of injuries currently (not an excuse, just facts), but as other have said - the shambles "above" him in terms of the structure of the club/the owners/the lack of investment in the ground/training complex is staggeringly bad.

It's horrible at the moment - United are just drifting along without any form of action plan/ideas from the top. Glaziers don't care, never have, never will. From the moment they took over the club and just lumped a ton of debt onto United, it's been take the dividends out, let the clubs commercial revenue pay for it.

Now it's really caught up with them - yes - they've spent big transfer fees, but the lack of investment into the ground, the club structure, the youth development is unreal. When was the last time a United youngster really cemented their place in the side??..... 10 years ago probably when Rashford appeared.

Carrying FAR to many passengers in the squad but on big money, they aren't going anywhere.

Utter shambles from top to bottom at the moment. Worst time ever to be supporting United in my 45 years+

But ETH will be an easy scapegoat, like Ole was.

New manager bounce, commercial success, profit.

I think he’s lost the dressing room as well. The players just can’t be arsed with him.

If he loses tomorrow and doesn’t get a positive result in the CL he’s gone before Luton.

I was firmly backing him and pointing the blame at the glazers, almost solely at them.

He’s not really a scape goat when he’s pushed for 3 terrible signings in Antony, Mount and Onana. A leak saying something along the lines of that would more than justify the sacking if it does come along. Be the usual results aren’t good enough.

It’s a shame because people higher up should have lost their jobs as well but seem to get away with it being terrible for years on end.

I still think he should be given time but if the players have stopped playing for him then he'll be gone. I do agree he's to blame for the transfers (assuming they were his first choice).

New manager equals new philosophy, more misfits. Same players still hanging around.

New manager or not, it's hard to see how things improve any time soon. Only in 5-10 years when the Glazers sell/die.

This is a huge factor. If there was a DOF in place it would make more sense as well. Going from one extreme to the other is insane as well. Moyes in when it should have been Jose. LvG when he was past it, completely 180°. Then going to Jose once he was finished. Ole getting the job permanently for beating PSG. Then flipping it again. Got to stick with it.

Almost like a good/bad film.

We need the commercial side of the club to be damaged, what's the secret behind the ever growing numbers? Simply the brand/name/legacy?

Apparently it was "unacceptable" for Rashford to have a birthday party and he had to apologise for it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67314370

Yes, on the one hand it doesn't look great to celebrate after the derby defeat but it's not like he chooses when his birthday is. I think ETH is a nutter.

Not sure who you get as a replacement though. The gossip columns say Ratcliffe wants De Zerbi.

Absolutely ridiculous. It didnt effect training so whats the issue?

Surely this was booked weeks if not months in advance, I would say after the defeat they could do with a bit of team bonding and I wouldn't have an issue with the party going ahead if I was a Man U fan, it's the impromptu nights out after a defeat that's ill advised but not a pre-arranged birthday party.

Surely De Zerbi would be too soon in his career, a bit similar to Potter at Chelsea (although they are in even more of a mess than yourselves), he'd be like a rabbit in the headlights, I cannot see how replacing Ten Hag without a solid plan in place for the entire structure of the footballing side of things actually makes sense at the moment, may as well limp along with the odd decent performance until something is ironed out

ETH is starting to lose me with this one tbh.

Yes the players earn a lot of money and aren't performing, but banning them from celebrating their birthday isn't going to help team morale, which is clearly in the gutter.

Its almost like he's trying to lose the dressing room on purpose isnt it. Dont think he fancies the challenge and wants out personally.
I wouldn’t want the challenge of that disaster of a football club either, its a carbon copy of the Mike Ashley era of the Toon, just on a bigger scale

I can't see ETH's comments about Rashford helping matters - regardless of right/wrong.

Doesn't really matter though, if the players already dislike him, nothing will change that.

Should have listened to Ralf.

He was subject to a lot of mockery, but Rangnick is one of the most experienced football directors around. People just didn't want to listen to him.

Here we are £500m~ later and results/performances are just as bad.
