What because he doesn't allow players to turn up late to training and meetings?
The BBC article on the issue stated that Rashford turned up to training on time:
The party on Sunday night was planned, and attending it did not prevent Rashford from arriving on time for training on Monday.

The issue is whether it's acceptable for players to be out the night before training given the physical requirements to perform. I think it's fair to say that players shouldn't be going out late at night on the regular before training or matches however on special occasions you surely allow it. I'm sure you can remember Ferguson missing a Manchester derby to go to his son's wedding back in the day. Rashford didn't miss a game, training or even turn up late, he just celebrated his birthday.

I never said Rashford turned up late. mid gen said his man management had been poor so I presumes he means more than just this, and oh look he's defending the man-child.

Players aren't robots, they are people. People that enjoy things like celebrating their birthday. ETH is so far proving himself to be a lousy man-manager.
i can't comment on his overall man management skills but in this instance, having a word with rashford for going out to a party on the evening after we get humped by man city is perfectly acceptable in my books

Right so man management is letting players do whatever they want, cool. One for player power rules over here.
Good man management would be letting a player celebrate his birthday, not demand an apology from a player that didn't turn up late to training, nor have the aforementioned birthday have any effect on his ability to take part in the training session. Seems the club knew about the planned event and yet ten hag has to be a 'big man' and drag a player over the coals about it, classy.

You have no idea what players have been told about their responsibilities on night's out before work. Just another meaningless sensationalist post.

Oh, you were replying to his post about the birthday party so I assumed your comment was linked to that. It is starting to look like he's got a bit of a Napoleon complex though. Instilling discipline is obviously important but how you do it is just as important because you'll just make enemies of players. I read a comment on twitter from David Neres a little while ago that was both very funny but also supports the idea that ETH's man management might not be the best.

It's funny how everyone seems to agree that player power at the club has been a problem but any time anyone actually tries to introduce discipline they're suddenly a dictator and out of order. Which is it people :D

If he's making an enemy out of little ***** that can't be bothered to turn up to training and are happy to coast and wait for the next manager to fail, then ******* great, get them out of the club.

i'm not really sure what the issue is here. as i understand it, eth had rashford apologise as it wasn't a good look to be out partying (irrespective of the reason) the evening after the team gets thoroughly spanked by their 'noisy neighbours' - i really don't see an issue with the handling of that at all. as a fan, i'd have been royally pee'd off seeing pics of the players out partying after getting bummed by city. i'm also pretty sure other teams fans and managers wouldn't have been overly happy in seeing that situation at their club either.

But as fans we're often irrational. Numerous times I've heard fans say players should be docked pay or have their days off cancelled because of poor performances but these things aren't even legal let alone right. Players are humans and they're allowed to celebrate birthdays, even if they played **** 6 hours earlier. As a Utd fan you might not want to see Rashford enjoying himself after a loss but he has a right to do so and he shouldn't have to apologise for doing so either. If Rashford is going out partying regularly and or it's effecting his training then there's an issue but AFAIK that's not happened.

For the record ETH didn't say why he had to apologise because it's none of the media's business. They make an attempt to make a story out of everything to get the clicks. He said it was an internal matter and they asked a further FOUR questions trying to get a story out of it. Utterly shameless.

i disagree. it's not a good look for the player(s) and common sense would lead me to not be going out to a party in public having just played like a lemon. it just sends a great big **** you to the fans. almost like a 'played crap today but so what' attitude. that obviously wouldn't have been the intention but it's certainly not a good look, imo.

Must really irk you then seeing players laughing and joking in training following a bad performance??

why would it? going to training and working on whatever went wrong in the game is pretty much a given. going out clubbing the evening after getting a humping and playing like dog **** - that irks me.
