The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

its already been like 7 or 8 years or more
7 or 8 years of sticky plasters and unrealistic expectations.

The club needs to have a long term plan which will almost certainly mean no European football for 3-4 seasons. It needs to purchase players with this in mind. The club needs young and hungry players, not over the hill stars looking for one last payday. The club then needs to stick to this plan.

maybe not get relegated is the worry.

Everyone who goes there gets worse. Managers, players. Anthony was once compared to Vini Jr. I don't know what the problem is, it feels like a virus. Would relegation fix it?

No chance anyone legit compared him to vini unless it was one of those to highlight the difference between them.

He was valued way lower than what United paid for him by the scouts at United. *googles*

They rated him at the top end of £25m, they paid 3x for him.

Also crazy that I agree with this, barring maybe Højlund, who I think can still come good with decent service and some guidance/training and Bruno, if he can rein it in a bit and someone else is made captain eventually.

Even then De Ligt isn’t great. Yoro looks like a rabbit in the headlights and Ugarte isn’t good enough and wasn’t good enough for the worst PSG team in a decade.

*edit*

You could actually keep Evans.

When is the last time Man Utd signed a player who then increased in value?

Need to become shrewd operators in the market. Like what Juve used to do. Pick up good players on bargains. Mazraoui the only recent example of that. It doesn't take much to improve this squad, the state it is currently in.

Loads of decent players who will be out of contract come summer. Won't cost too much to get them in Jan.

I still think Hojland is a decent young player - with some proper service (thru balls/crosses etc) he will be a good centre forward. He's had little or not service so far.

The way Amorin system setups, doesn't appear to have much creativity/midfielders getting in the box...

It's a mess, has been for years from the top down.... Stadium is falling apart as well.

There needs to be some clear vision/clarity going forward.

I agree that a lot of the current squad need sold/released etc - Hardly any of them fit the current system....

Different league, different management and different owners. Pressure etc is totally different here. Allowing him time would be the right thing imo.

He's already said himself it'll get worse before it gets better. United will be able to pick up free agents that are better than some of the dross in their squad atm.

They have to give him time - Without it, it's just another manager with another way of playing, it doesn't address the fundamental problems of the shear about of dross United are carrying in the squad...

Neville said it well... Look at Ole's last game...

De Gea , Wan-Bissaka , Lindelof, Maguire , Shaw, McTominay, Matic , Sancho , Fernandes , Rashford , Ronaldo.

Is the current team (3 years on from that team above) - better or worse.... 100% worse....

No progress at all - another £500 million spent on players in that time.

Would be interesting to see if Sancho returns to United under Amorin... Crying out for creativity in the midfield/forward area's

It's highly unlikely that he will be given the time, because a lot of time is needed, but then who will they bring in? Big Sam to avoid relegation  The club also have no cash apparently/have to stay within the rules, so need to sell before they can buy.

Unlikely to get rid of Rashford easily/cheaply - I imagine his wages might have to be partly paid off by the club. Zirkzee is hopefully going to be sold. That still leaves a load of dross.

It was always a risk bringing in Hojlund, someone better/established needs to be bought. At least if you're scoring you can try to overcome the defensive errors. If you can't score and end up making a lot of defensive errors you end up in a relegation battle :o

I think Sancho deal with Chelsea is obligation to buy.

 just looking at Mount's contract, he cost £60m and is here until 2028  earning a cool £1m a month.

£120m down the drain.

Shambles.
