I don't think his value is dropping at all. It will however take a massive hit if he goes elsewhere on loan and doesn't do anything. That would completely ruin his value. The value in a player like Rashford is his history. His purple patches. The idea that another manager and another club can get the best out of him. Once you accept that he doesn't care enough to play at the top level any more his value will reflect that.

On current evidence if we completely ignore his good periods he wouldn't be on much over £100k/week and he would be at a mid-level club who allows him to do as he wishes. A Zaha like player at Palace.

Well the recent story coming out isn't gonna help , anyone wanting to gamble is like £30 million on £100k - £150k or something

Can't see any top team wanting that luggage and paying high wages

Tony Coton sacked today, apparently. If he was responsible for United getting Onana and Bayindir then that is probably why he’s gone.

Seems reasonable to be honest, more senior figures have to be held accountable for the shambles that’s going on. Anyone with anything to do with Zirkzee or Antony should be instantly sacked as well for fraud. :D

It seems ETH was over achieving with this crowd of cretins. I stopped caring about Man Utd when they hired the utter **** Mourinho. So just now and again have a wee look at how they are doing “this manager”. It just keeps going from bad to worse really.

Has anyone caught on it’s not the managers that are the problem yet?

I see Amorim is talking about the possibility of relegation. Not surprised really.

I just watched the highlights of the Newcastle/United game and I know that these highlights don't tell the whole story but it looked like a lot of our games recently where we've had some poor luck coupled with awful defending. At the other end we just aren't finishing chances. First goal was another deflected cross that put it right on the head of a striker. The second was a complete lack of tracking back from Eriksen and then Joelinton got the run on Martinez.

I fear Martinez is going to have to go as hes just not quick enough, mobile enough or good enough in the air to play in this setup.

Basically what I am saying is that our recent performances haven't necessarily been as abject as the results would suggest. I think that with some tweaks and a bit of luck we will be fine for the season. Not good but fine.

We were the better side after Mainoo came on, but the damage had already been done.

In most games we have actually been playing generally ok, but major errors are costing us: poor at defending set pieces, stupid mistakes at critical points like the Bruno red card and Mazraoui penalty.

The immediate issue is that these errors have caused a huge dip in confidence for the entire squad, and our next few games are really difficult. I can’t see it turning around just yet.

My other concern is that Ratcliffe seems a bit erratic in the background, is he going to take the simplistic view and blame the manager (and by extension, Berrada who wanted him)…

Newcastle battered us. They went into cruise mode in the second half.

Starting with Erisksen and Casemiro was the mistake from Amorim, as I said in the match thread Martinez should have been dropped after the Spurs game he was atrocious yet plays the next game.

We need a better midfield we just get over run for ages now, having a solid DM is important just look at City missing Rodri.

Everyone who goes there gets worse. Managers, players. Anthony was once compared to Vini Jr. I don't know what the problem is, it feels like a virus. Would relegation fix it?

The whole club is rotten. With all the recent changes there must be a horrible atmosphere behind the scenes (not just the players)

Hate to say it but I've called it out many times, but apparently I'm too negative. I'd say I'm negative about the club for valid reasons. If you're not negative then I'm not sure what you're looking at, are we seeing the same things? I still chuckle at the comments that it couldn't get worse than ETH.

It was clear than ETH wasn't the biggest problem (several people pointed this out) even if he has built a crap squad. But they can't fire the entire squad can they? And the management aren't going to fire themselves, maybe relegation would make them sell to the oil barons?

Ten hag did spend best part of £600 million to assemble that squad unless he didn't have any say on the transfers , but for sure he did bring in Antony and Martinez

Why was he allowed to buy such poor players. Poor management/ownership.

I do like Amorim he seems ruthless but seems stuck with these bunch of misfits, I'd stick with him clearing and rebuilding no quick fix

He talks the talk but his approach is untested in the modern EPL isn't it? Even when his Sporting side beat City recently the match stats were all in favour of City if I recall correctly.

It started when sir Alex left and glazers hiring the wrong people, it's crazy how the glazers let this happen and now out of the limelight hiding behind ineos and Jim

Newcastle were all over you for the first half hour. It looked like you were a League 1 side. You improved hugely when you brought on the extra midfielder, but by that point you were 2 down and probably should have been 4 down. Newcastle had massively eased off as well.

I agree in general that you haven't been as awful recently as some are making out, but the first half hour was genuinely terrible.

Conte/Tuchel played it a bit at chelsea, Van Gaal at man utd, Rodgers in the season he was sacked tried it out of desperation before that I remember Roy Evans using it at Liverpool in the 90's - we never looked defensively solid when we were using it either, awesome going forward though, then again not hard to be with the attacking talent he had at his disposal.
