Well with rashford, Antony and Sancho all loaned out, no surprise we are short up front now.

Probably see a bounceback from the youngsters though.

need some goals from somewhere, looking abroad that Scot Mctoms at Napoli scoring plenty goals we could offer £60m

Blimey, Ten Hag is looking like a genius at this point. You should have got Moyes when you had the chance, you didn't he went to the toffees and now you've been leapfrogged by Everton in the league, let that sink in. Overtaken by Everton.

Pretty happy for him. I think it's just the extreme pressure of being at United and his price tag, being able to slip under the radar a bit probably lets him just enjoy his football. Not being in this United team probably doesn't hurt either!

I really don't buy the idea that players magically aren't under pressure elsewhere and it makes them twice the player they were at United. The PL is just stronger than every other league. The average quality of the PL is miles ahead of most other leagues. The time you get on the ball is much less etc.

On a different note, I didn't realise that United only hired their first data department hire in 2021. Thats shambolic in this day and age.

And no, we don't have the players for it. You need players who can do certain things. Things like rolling a man, breaking into space and passing quickly and accurately as their teammates move around them. Teams are very well drilled these days so static passing doesn't work. You need to break their formations with movement off and on the ball.

My thoughts exactly.
No disrespect intended to La Liga but it's nowhere near the level of physicality, tactical discipline that there is in the Premier League. Antony did very little to show he had the level required. Mitoma he ain't.
Technically many players in La Liga are better but the pace of the games is about 20% slower (not very scientific I know) so even average ballers look gifted.

Indeed. Some players can make the transition and others just get caught out. Unsurprisingly when they return to those leagues their issues disappear again.

That can't be true?

I think it would depend on what you are talking about really. I can fully believe that we didn't have a dedicated data scientist crunching the numbers on the squad, performances, transfer targets. I'm sure we were using data previously but there is a big difference between having a propre data scientist run devision and a couple of your guys looking at distances run, completed passes etc.

No its true, 10 years or so behind other big teams in getting a 'data science' dpt. Although by all accounts the guy who lead it left in the summer and you haven't replaced him.
