Don’t do it to yourself. It’s the hope that kills you.
I feel unless we make a significant signing this January, I can see us running out of steam around March time.
City appear to be getting better. I think it’s for them to lose.

Yeah. Liverpool will be there or thereabouts as well. They have had some bad luck (don’t tell Baz I said that) and they are still very near to us. I don’t take the idea of us playing poorly as a sign we will get better but as a sign that things will unravel at some point. We’re still not progressing as a team under Ole and until that changes we won’t be close to beating teams like City and Liverpool. We have a cracking set of players and we are playing to about 60-70% of our potential.

I think what Ole has done with the squad has been brilliant but he’s not got the ability to coach us to the same level as someone like Klopp or Pep. You can see it in all of the top teams that have decided to appoint ex-players to their managerial roles. They have good players and when the good players are firing on all cylinders they win and when they aren’t they look utter crap because they have no foundation to fall back on.

Even when they aren’t winning Liverpool have an obvious shape and style to their play, they still move well as a team and still get at the opposition well, they are just failing at the last.

It’s been a weird season but I think City or Liverpool will suddenly find some consistency and run away with it by the middle of March.

City are finding form, it is their season to lose.
Pleasing to see that the Ole generation is starting to show some promise.

I would still get rid of Pogba.
Maybe I am been cynical but I dont think it is a coincidence that he has suddenly started to put some performances in.....now the transfer window is open.

I am just tired of the mess that surrounds him.
His attitude is not right (just my view of course) and I have watched more lazy and below par performances from him, than I have good.

I agree that Pogba needs to go regardless. Too erratic over the years and only plays well if he can be bothered. Not a leader on the pitch like he should be and I think we can build a better team without him.

Another Raiola player off the books is always a good thing as well.

I think if Pogba had stayed and never gone to Juventus it would have been a different story. The huge price tag and his agent just tainted everything. 17/18 was arguably his season both domestically and with France but hasn't kicked on from there.

It would be nice if he could kick on now as you can tell by his inclusion in the post match pressers he is in a good place right now.

The problem is that changes every 3-6 months. He’s just really selfish and doesn’t care about the team or anyone but himself. He’s like a high maintenance trophy wife who is always looking for the next mug. No loyalty and too self centered.

You just know we will be having the same conversation about him before the season is out.

Yeah I would make nothing of his recent form. Should only judge him on the overall time he’s been at the club. And that makes it an easy decision for the summer.

Desperately, desperately need a leader with a brain to get the defence organised. There's just a total lack of leadership back there.

Slabhead is not a captain. Too slow and indecisive. He could work alright with someone beside him to do the thinking and yell at his slow ass to get in position.

Fernandes has made such a big impact because he doesn't just play well, he tells everyone else what to do, marshals the team.

Yeah Bruno should be captain most definitely, but Ole can’t ship it over to him now as I guess it would cause waves. Shame as Maguire is absolute **** as captain.

What about Martial? Been poor this season and seems to have confidence/attitude issues. Shame he's not kicking on now so I'd move him on

I think both left and right wing need to be bolstered.

Also maybe Brandon Williams needs a start at RB. I know AWB is usually solid but usually offers nothing going forward.

All in all though there's been too many games we've struggled to break down teams. If that doesn't change all this transfer talk is pointless :(

If I was United and I actually wanted to win the league I would be getting rid of Pogba and Martial and investing that money in a RW, DM and a top class CB. I would also have got rid of Ole and brought in an experienced manager who actually coaches the team and gives us some shape and coaches transitions.

I'm not sure why they are persisting with Martial. I assume they are just scared that he will be a Pogba who suddenly kicks on when he leaves and we look stupid. Hes had far too many seasons to sort out his issues and hasn't addressed any of them.

Looks like it’s been confirmed that they got the decisions wrong in the game by the post-match report. The Sheffield Utd goal shouldn’t have been given and ours should.

Theres no point to these decisions when nothing is being done to fix the issues with VAR. Whats the point of a review system when its not used to correct decisions. IMO ours should have stood more than theirs but both goals were very similar in nature and how you could allow one and not the other is beyond me.

So we basically won against Sheffield United but then we were lucky to beat Brighton at the start. Swings and roundabouts really.

Games like Sheffield United happen. Just as long as the players are mentally strong enough to move on from it is the problem.
