US: The Mandalorian

Its a 5/6pm Saturday evening style family show. Imagine if people got this whiney about Knightrider and A-team back in the day. Your heads would explode in rage at Manimal. :p

Criticism may be entirely valid but people need to lighten up a bit. :D

Holy cow - that was epic and the ending "omfg" literally. What ever Starwars tv shows come next Mandalorian has certainly raised the bar and set the standard.

Going to have to watch that again it was so good. :)

Well I didn't see that coming.

Most speculation pointed to Mace Windu reappearing. Or maybe Ahsoka changing her mind or just deciding to come to the rescue. Ezra Bridger was also talked about as a possible candidate for answering Grogu's call.

But Luke!?!? Did anyone see a Luke Skywalker deepfake coming? Amazing bit of fan service.

Also, heads-up; there's a post-credits scene.

I certainly wanted that to happen but wasnt very confident they would do it - it really makes the most sense though what with the only few options left Ashoka (stupid considering she was the one who sent them to find another jedi) mace is dead ezra is too obscure (and hasn't had the missing bit resolved yet) cal? even more obscure,

MY ONLY DISSAPOINTMENT IS THAT WE DIDNT GET LUKE LIGHTSABER IGNITION NOISE - WHY NOT WWHYYYYYYYY DAMN YOU DISNEYYYY

also tatooine king boba is awesome

Suspected who it was soon as the X-wing landed.

Prayed it wasnt going to be that lame.

It was that lame.

A fantastic episode ruined by pointless fan service.

yea feel the same, didn't need that at all.

keep away from anything movie related plz don't need the cast of teh movies in the series, people want as much distance between the film and the series as possible no?

slowly it will drift to more and more pew pew to get more viewers, it will become like the new films.

disney are going to start milking this series for sure, they are going to get some big budget movies going with tie ins from all the actors in the new star wars films that people hate.

The whole idea of a show is to service the fans rather than annoy them like they have been doing with the sequels.

Loved the ending and the whole series

Brilliant ending and made perfect sense as soon as the Jedi become involved in this series. Well done all involved.

Dark troopers. That is how you make a robot look menacing *shakes fist at terminator franchise*

I think they missed a trick making Mando reveal his face in ep 7, as it would have been much more powerful to have this as the first time (this season)

Also, the Luke reveal was pretty much telegraphed in this episode tbh....

  1. Ashoka mentioned that “Jedi” would hear Grogu’s call
  2. They’ve been back to Tatooine again after not mentioning it in a while
  3. Mention of the Death Star in this episode
I thought this was a good breakdown of the episode including why Luke wearing black was a bit off :)

I loved it, I've had problems with some of the other episodes this season but the finale paid all those debts and more for me.

I wasn't at all upset over Luke appearing, in fact it was the icing on the cake for me.

While it's unlikely, there have been rumours of the Star Wars universe going forward essentially retconning the sequels. A few things within Mandalorian have pointed to that even, in my mind it's the best possible course they can take the franchise as a whole. I'd love to see post RoTJ Luke closer to his portrayal within some of the extended universe material, just throw out the trash in the sequels entirely and have a continuation with brief glimpses as to what he's doing. A TV show based upon the Young Jedi Knights series would be fantastic for example.

I don't think that is happening

Mando is only 5-6 years after ROTJ, force awakens is another 25 years ish away
they don't really have to change anything and can show what ever they like short of killing leia luke or han... plenty of room to do whatever in that time, can delve into how we got to force awakens situation (not that anyone probably cares about that lol)

they are definitely using mando (and other series) to fill in gaps and fix somethings (like boba lame death in rotj or luke no fighty in TLJ)

Biggest grumble for me is they've now put Grogu in to a 6 year time gap between the events of The Mandolorian and Luke taking on his "first" apprentice, Ben Solo. And Grogu's species develops very slowly. So what can they do with the character now? He doesn't even get a passing mention in the new trilogy, so presumably he was insignificant to Luke/Ben/Rey's arc.

I'd sooner have seen him sent off with someone who has no known future storyline. Windu was a top choice for this, given he's in the "presumed dead" category. They could have jumped 50 years in to the future and done stories with a fully-trained Grogu, and it wouldn't have raised any continuity issues. Missed opportunity.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the gap in time. There's only one story so far set between the events of The Mandolorian and Ben Solo's turn to the dark side. And only a few events are known to happen during this period. Plenty of scope for filling in this gap while only needing to play lip service to the new trilogy.

Is Moff Gideon force sensitive?

Not known to be.
