US: The Mandalorian

There are a lot of questions that come out of Luke collecting Grogu, all leading to the big question of what happened to him between this and Force Awakens?

Cant we just forget Force Awakens onwards ever happened?

:D

When you watch the mandalorian and realise that we’ve had a better story, more developed characters and better fan service in one episode than 3 huge budget films. What a wasted opportunity those were, no wonder Disney is moving toward Star Wars series. I had all but given up on Star Wars before the mandalorian - it’s not perfect, but it’s a great watch.

Crazy what can happen when you put an ounce of effort into making a cohesive story innit.

I’ll never get my head around how a multi billion dollar franchise couldn’t have at least planned out a linked and coherent story through the new trilogy. I mean Marvel managed it with a load more films.

I know we tend to **** them off but honestly I have enjoyed all the star wars movies. :p

I enjoyed the spectacle, I’ll just always feel it could have been so much more.

@CaptainRAVE Amen to that.

I really loved that episode, it is not the tightest show in the World for internal consistency but its pretty good. It takes its time and tells small stories leading to a larger one. I was "NO FLIPPING WAY" when I saw the lone X-wing then it was "is it really, is it really" "Yay!".

The season ended the child arc well and meaningfully and opened up an alternative story. The use of canon characters to fill plot points has been done pretty sensitively and it has been a fun polished show that hits all the right Star Wars notes.

What a sad tragedy the sequel trilogy has been in comparison.

Vale of the force peeps!!!

Big talk of Ahsoka using the Vale of the force to reset the sequels and open up a different path.

Just shows how much Favreau and Filoni actually care about Star Wars and love it compared to those that wrote and made the recent trilogy.

Hopefully with them also doing the other series we will have great Star Wars for years to come. Same with the Rogue Squadron movie in the hands of Patti Jenkins. She seems passionate about it rather than just making a movie just to make some $$$.

just finished it - really liked it.
I wasn't expecting to say that about anything star wars related ever again.

best thing since the originals.

haha "we must stop JJ from ruining star wars by travelling through time :D"
Well there's also talk of a Lucas cut but I don't think that heap of poo is fixable. Best just to go round it.

It's pretty telling that all the TV shows are looking back and not 1 spin off from the sequels.

I don't blame JJ he hasn't much talent but the damage was done by Pea head Johnson and KK.

Heck the stories about the Disney Park is amazing. They wanted to build Tatooine and have cantina's lol like the film's but she wanted nothing from the originals and wanted to look forward and not back.

She just sounds like a bitter old woman who is resentful after working under Lucas and Spielberg.

Disney want her gone but she is dug in deep and Disney don't want to be seen sacking a woman in this climate but has no creative control over Star wars. That's why they have thrown Children of the blood and bone at her at least get her to earn a paycheck.

Yes these are rumours and leaked information but they have been getting things right.

I don't think anyone individual "ruined star wars"
People on youtube / reddit carp on about KK every day - its just clickbait

Disney bought Lucasfilm for $$$$
The brief was get films made and you have 3 years until the first one (with what 5 films in 7 years?) they also took the risky choice of picking young up and coming directors (which can be an amazing choice but also can cause serious problems during production R1/Solo and ROS?)

JJ is a good director but should he have been writing the story? that was the mistake
Also having separate people writing the films one after the other - its that game where you draw a picture and take turns and folding each bit - the end result is all over the place

No big joined up plan for the story, too many productions at once, too many risky choices for directors, also not enough thought about what fans would actually want to see

e.g luke leia and Han - not on film for 30 odd years and no big scene together in the ST, also no Luke fighting with green LS :D - what a waste
also all of the whole PT + clone wars is about getting to the Empire, all of OT and rebels about defeat the empire - then 30 years later all of that is for nothing

RJ was clearly moving things in a more interesting direction but far too much "subverting expectations" yes I expected a good film and you subverted that expectation :D
TOS is the worst though, backpedaling just made it worse? too much of a mess to fix by then, the ST really did kill by Star Wars interest
Mandalorian (and Fallen Order) is bringing it back thank goodness

they seem to be moving in the right direction now - just hope all these new projects doesn't get too much for them again

I have to repeat the sentiments of a lot of people here..
I saw the lone X-Wing, and thought "no, it couldn't be.."
I saw the hooded figure, and thought "could it?"
I saw the black glove and green lightsaber, and thought "ohhh matron, it is..."
I saw the fighting style, and thought "now you feel the power of a fully operational Jedi"

I then had a bit of a gigglefit as I watched the creative ways in which the dark troopers were dispatched.. half expected one of them to expire with a "roger roger"

I enjoyed that, wasn't expecting the lightsabre wielding cameo and wondered how well they'd be able to CGI the face and whilst it's still not perfect (I think a single geek with deepfake etc could do better and I await the examples people will make) it was still far better than Leia in Rogue One.

I just wonder where season 3 will go now, although the post credits scene is interesting.

Season 3 will be about Mandalore and getting the Dark Sabre back off Mando.

The Book of Boba Fett is a separate series all on its own. Favreau confirmed this on a TV interview the other day.

Oh, that's done already:

Fan theory about what happens for the future:

Because of the World Between Worlds story detail, Lucasfilm/Disney, who is already on their MCU side already going for Multiverse stories, is going to have both Mandalorian and Sequel Trilogy be both canon. But what content Lucasfilm and Disney develop (NOT the Sequel Trilogy, because that's not going to work in China for a start, whilst OT and PT at least has fond memories for some), will be up to what makes the most money.

So if people want the Sequel Trilogy stuff, they can develop it in the future IF people put money where their mouth is and push it by purchasing ST content (which the majority won't given how everything looks). But otherwise, Lucasfilm and Disney will continue with this "alternate timeline" where the ST stuff didn't happen the way it happened on the Silver Screen (where people want to know more about what happens and likes what they see; Luke not being a deadbeat failure).

And thus, rejoice; Grogu isn't going to be caught in the Temple destruction in a decade or two, neither will they be dead (Because Grogu = Money at this point). And the renewed Luke interest = more interest (more money).

That's my hopes for how things develop anyway. If they go this route, they get to keep both the failed franchise, available to reboot if needed in the future, and the OG content that's running on The Mandalorian as well. Win - Win for Lucasfilm/Disney. And wins for all Star Wars fans, you like ST? Good, it's still there, pump more money into it (eventually there'll be enough interest that Lucasfilm works on it again). Whilst OG content fans get what they want too.

Was crap ex-MMA actresses weapon firing physical projectiles, thought it was a pew pew laser blaster ;) Unsure how it could jam, also why it had c-mags for physical bullets on it.

Minor quibble which took me out of the immersion for a minute on the final episode.

Great final episode btw, worthy of the hype.
