US: The Mandalorian

What does her political stance and personal beliefs have to do with her ability to portray a character on screen?

It shouldn't and her being a Republican (don't believe she's admitted it but her socials would certainly allude to it; unless she's trolling) makes little difference. But, posting conspiracy theories and misinformation, and generally goading the 'left', doesn't look good and it's understandable why a network/production company would want to distance themselves away from it.

As others have said, it would be a shame to see the character go but ultimately I think the ball is in her (and her/PR 'people'/) court considering the industry she's in, ie - fans/viewers have a lot of sway.

I had a quick look at her tweets and haven't seen anything too bad, but this election was a little different in that the President and senior members of congress were also doing the same, it would seem a little harsh to sack someone because they literally repeated something the president said.

The president and congress should be held to higher standard than a random actor if they don't face any consequences then why should she

As for Cara Dune - good character portrayed well 90% of the time. S2E4 is absolutely awful though, there's a scene where she has to quickly sprint a solid 10m but the camera has to cut away as the actress is too buff to manage it believably.
As for her political beliefs, I disagree with the actress in every way but I don't have to like someone to like their art.

Do we think that we will see S3 a little earlier this year and then go straight into the book of Boba in December? I cant see them running both at the same time.

Just finished the last episode of season 2. One word.....awesome.

It went a long way to fix the damage of that garbage sequel trilogy.
I'm slowly getting through the last film but it's just awful. Everything about it is so poor that they somehow made Adam Driver look subpar and that takes effort.

Indeed.

Maybe she did vote for Trump. Maybe, in the days following the election (when she made reference to election fraud on Twitter) she believed fraud took place. So what? At the time, that idea hadn't been tested in court, and there were pundits across the American right entertaining the possibility. It's not as if she was posting telling people to storm the Capitol and overthrow the government.

Seems like all she's guilty of is potentially having dim political views and refusing to push gender politics. OMG - sack her!

It's almost as bad as the campaign to get Danielle Panabaker sacked from The Flash for "racism".

Oh, she's far from the "CT Loon" as someone else previously mentioned. But she does usually posts a handful of goading meme's from right-wing sources (Babylon Bee etc) and the occasional misinformation "story" (eg - anti-masker meme's) across her socials (Instagram etc) during the week.

Personally i'd be toeing the line and milking it for what it's worth (spin-offs, movie appearances etc) if this series was my biggest job to date but, each to their own.

@Steampunk saw your posts about Gina and the “woke left” do you have any context or sites for these.

also someone mentioned she peddled misinformation and conspiracy theory. If that is true, she shouldn’t have any place in TV or any sort of camera facing opportunity.

misinformation and conspiracy theory is currently the greatest threat to the society. A single persons malice, joke or ignorance can cause death and misery affecting many many more.

From what I saw she didn’t actually say there was electoral fraud. She said there should be a change of the rules to help prevent electron fraud and a few other trumpy lines. But there was no actual allocation of electoral fraud, I can see no misinformation being spread by her.

There is a big difference between that and actually saying the election was fraudulent or spreading misinformation/fake news but I can see how that can be confusing for some people though. Her tweets were clearly towing a line and she stayed in the correct side of it.

There were other tweets about masks and the pandemic, plus several pushing the election fraud baseless conspiracy, its classic looney conspiracy nut territory. :p

She tweets a lot. Where is controversial stuff. I saw a couple posts where trump retweeted. But can’t actually see anything that began the tweet.

this is why I hate Twitter so much. It is just like sending emoji after emoji and the conversation is lost.

anyway found a site that seems to summarise the issue. She does seem to have some issues such a as the nazi picture, the anti-vaccination and anti-lockdown stance as well as questioning the validity of the election system.

she clearly doesn’t like to be told and she clearly thinks she s right all the time. She may not be a racist but failing to see the issue with the picture she shared and got into an argument with someone trying to point out to her the sensitivity of the picture seems to demonstrate she lacks a certain amount of humility and judgement.

and such lacking is clearly demonstrated by her anti vaccination and anti lock down stance. It is pure stupidity.

I personally wouldn’t say she is a role model. @Steampunk if you want to idolise someone choose someone who s strong but not ignorant or stubborn. Unfortunately in the real world there are so few women idols to look up to. Maybe draw your inspiration from BBC’s 100 woman series as opposed to someone who clearly lacks sound judgement.

If I was Disney exec, her actions are not sackable but needs to be reprimanded. Her tweets clearly damage the cooperate image. So give her a choice, tone it down or leave the job.

this is not even woke or leftism. It is just simple PR, if someone works for a large cooperate in a client facing role and they get caught f@@@@@@ and blinding to some poor woman child or whatever, they will get the sack. It is just simple as that. There is no political wakeness in it.

She was a UFC champ. And her last fight before retirement was against some Amazonian feral woman! It was brutal. She might have got her screws knocked loose after that!
