I have some blades called Derby Extra Double Edged x 2 but I can't use them :( They hurt compared to feather ones.

Anyone want too swap packets (10 blades) of 'Derby Extra Double Edged' for 1 pack of 'Feather'?

I doubt anyone will take that offer up, Derby blades are generally regarded as pretty poor and Feathers are the sharpest blade available.

It did indeed Feek thanks very much, I completely forgot to post I've had a rather brain bashing couple of weeks with my personal life.

Once you get over the effects of the menthol I find it pretty nice to use. Better than TOBS cream but not quite as good as Mr Taylors soap.

Overall the lather isn't as good as the soap I've been using but it takes less time to work up a usable lather.

I cleaned up, repainted my English Gillette RedTip Superspeed at the weekend. It's a great shaver, very efficient.

Thinking about buying some Floid aftershave when i put me next order in with Gifts&Care in spain. Anyone tried any of the varieties? what do you think of it?

I managed to cut myself today, something I've not done for ages. It's not just a little nick but a proper cut about half an inch long. I'm not sure how I managed it but I think I must have moved my head while I was shaving and introduced some sideways movement to the blade. There wasn't a huge amount of blood and I hadn't even realised it was a cut but it's very obvious now when I look in a mirror.

Oooh. I was only thinking the other day how I have not cut myself since my first couple of times shaving. I have also been applying extra weight while shaving.
Seems I had best not get too laxed. (Can't remember how to spell complacent? :) )

Is their any other good balm recommendations, was using the Blue Beards Balm but I think the Witch Hazel irritates a little too much.

This. One of these lasts me months with daily use, it's nicely moisturising and had a decent scent which doesn't hang around for too long after use. I use that then a few minutes later I'll use whatever aftershave splash I happen to fancy for the day.

This is my favourite, a very nice balm, although i now normally use a splash instead.

This and This are also very good.

Creighton's make most UK company's shaving creams, real shaving and asda groomed products.

Can only echo the above regarding TOBS blam. Very good.

Feek and Manlove, standby regarding your emails chaps. I'm going for one last market run this weekend. Don't hold your breath on the med-preps though feek, I haven't seen any here.

I was watching some YouTube vids last night and the guy did three passes. With the grain then from ear to nose and finally nose to ear. The neck area he went with, against and against again. He said only every so often, maybe when he really needed a close shave, he would do a fourth pass against the grain on the face.
Is this typical for you guys? I have always gone with the grain, ear to nose and finally against the grain all over my face.

i only do 2 passes

1) With the grain on Face and With the grain on Neck
2) Across the grain on Face and against the grain on Neck

then a couple of touch ups around my jaw line normally

I bought a cheap Wilkinson Sword DE razor from Boots for just over 4 quid with 5 blades to be sure I could get by with the change (and a styptic pencil just in case) and didn't even get past the 1st set of blades before I went out and bought my Muhle R89 razor.

I suggest you buy a decent Muhle/Merkur razor and a blades tester pack (a few different blade makes in 1 pack) to see which blade suits your razor/skin.

Had my 1st shave tonight with the Proraso Ultra-Sensitive Cream, it's good and I had almost zero irritation/sting from my Alum Bloc (not that I get much from my Tabac soap), will report back after a couple more shaves and I've a better 'feel' for it.

Does look promising though

Postie's been with a brand new product, only launched on Saturday, I'll try it tomorrow morning.
