I'll go back to trying a bit more cream and water. I try not to apply pressure as the 34C is already weighty, but I could be adding some as my hands are still used to 15+ years of doing so. I'll make a mental note to see what pressure I am using.

Revisited this on Saturday morning. Made sure I used the weight of the razor. Also applied more water and got a much smoother/runnier cream. I know it was better as the cream used to clog under the blade but didn't this time. The result was a much much more comfortable shave. Much less burn and nicks.

Had another shave this morning ready for work. Again same result. Neck area is still the area that has some signs of irritation. Has done for as long as I have been wet shaving.

I just hope it's been an issue with me using too much pressure and having too thick a cream. The other difference is with the two shaves has been with the first time with a feather blade. Certainly though I seem to have found a decent combo. I have 40+ other types of blades though so don't want to settle just yet. Impressed so far though.

Any tips for the problematic sensitive neck area? It looks like a rash. I don't think I have suffer from in growing hairs but could be wrong.

neck irritation is probably due to pressure on the razor, bad lather, too many passes or a combination. i only do a WTG and a ATG pass on my neck.

English Red Tip Superspeed arrived on Saturday, the guy threw in a Blue Tip as well, not bad for £10 delivered. It scrubbed and polished up nicely, just need to repaint the tip.

I used it yesterday, had a great shave, it's more efficient than my black handle super speed, nice shaver.

How many passes are you dong over your neck area?
Neck has been a trouble spot for me and I think their is where blade selection shows the most in terms of irritation, I think i've narrowed it down to about 5 different blade types, biggest thing for me as you discovered is having NO pressure on the blade/ handle, for me this cant be stressed enough. Good lather comes with experience it would seem. Also, using the blade at the right angle on your face is easy less so when learning how to hold it to your neck maybe try taking really really short strokes with the blade.
Make ONE pass where their is lather don't think you can go over the same skin without it, if theirs still rough areas rince and lather the neck area fully again and make another pass etc. A lot of irritation has came from me doing that ( old habits), and making sure the lather is their to let the blade slide over the skin, not tug on it, trapping the skin and "biting" into it.

what ones do you use?

Yeah, it might be this. Old habits and rushing. I'll try to take more time with the neck and make sure I cream up rather than going over small stubbly patches without it. The rest of my face is feeling baby smooth.

After struggling with the Proraso soap for a little while and trying everyone's techniques without success I finally found one that works for me and thought I would share.

1. Run brush under warm water for 30 seconds and then stand it upright so the water runs down inside the bristles. Don't flick of any excess.
2. Swirl the brush in the Proraso 30 seconds so it is nice and loaded on all the tips.
3. Take the Proraso lid and put a few splashes of water in it.
4. Swirl the brush quickly around the lid clockwise and occasionally change to anti-clockwise.

This technique worked great for me and I had a nice thick lather that was spilling over the sides of the lid. Enough for three nice passes and some extra if needed.

Recently got a 100ml tub or blue beards revenge shaving cream. 9/10 thumbs up from me. Smells great, lathers great even without using a brush when you can't be bothered, and left me with no nicks or cuts. I highly reccomend this stuff. And for 9 quid delivered you can't go wrong. Top stuff ! Using it with a 34c HD and derby blades

Had an awful shave last night. I should have stopped straight away but I was being very lazy.
I tried to get a 4th shave out of a feather blade which on the 3rd (Wednesday) was already showing its age. The result was a very uncomfortable shave. Threw it away straight away. Put loads of Aloe Vera gel on which helped but still feeling it this morning.
I would have got a new one but my son was asleep in the room where the blades are. Now that sound's odd but the cabinet they are in are high up out the way out of reach so the safest place in the house where we keep cleaning bottles etc :)

Feathers are particularly awful for this. Out of the packet they are one of the sharper blades you can buy but they definitely have a brick wall which they will hit after the 2nd, 3rd or 4th shave depending on beard and routine. For me, it's the 3rd shave and it's still fine : it's not great but it's ok. If I try a 4th shave then it's terribly uncomfortable and my skin hates me.

Having said that, they are still the best blade that most users can buy given their cost, availability, durability and efficacy. Just remember to change them :)

I'll agree with you. So far its the one blade I have had the least irritation from. I need to try the multitude of other blades I have before buying a large pack of one type of blade. I think technique also might be a factor as to why my first shave with the Feather was so comfortable.

Used a Derby blade after using a Feather. Can certainly tell a difference. Looks like I might be settling on Feathers.

Anyone ever bought from eBay? That price is nice but I'm not too keen on the item location. They have lots of feedback though. Why don't UK stockists like Shaving Shack stock these large packs?

Ok guys, last shout if anyone wants me to bring any blades back for them. I can get 100 Gillette 7'oclock super stainless (green pack) for equivalent of £4.50 (no profits will be had). Email me if interested :)

I'll take it if you don't mind Feek.

I've was planning on buying something that was in between a soap and creme once my Dr Harris soap had gone.
Did it arrive, interested to know how you're getting on with it.

I've dropped you a trust note, you may or may not be able to help but it's worth a shout.
