Looks fine, though I would recommend a Blade Sample pack, pretty cheap and you get a good range, and it REALLY does make a difference in what blades for each.

Connaught got the 34c hd back in, this lot just arrived, (i have other stuff) Sadly they were out of the sample blade pack i wanted so going to use the derbys for now.

Will be slicing my face later with this !

Sorry, I was meant to mention already have a soap bowl and brush, they are cheap ones I will upgrade later!

Also just noticed theres some treet platinum in the merkur box and one sample merkur super blade.

Think i will still start with the derbys!

Ahh thatll work then lol.

Love the Proraso Pre, use a lot less of it than you think you need and it should last years, really made a huge difference leaving it on for a few mins before shaving.

I'll say it again.. every time...the biggest thing on your first few shaves..and keep saying it to yourself...NO..PRESSURE ON THE BLADE.....easily the biggest mistake I made when I started all of this.
Literally the weight of the handle on your face and thats it.

Thanks for the advice!

Just been looking at some guides, I can be quite heavy handed so will be certainly using no pressure. Next investment will be something to put on afterwards, im trying to use up all my old rubbish so not wasting money.

Might try some Floid aftershave.

Damn you ;)

I've nearly finished one of my tubs of ToBS Shaving Shop and it's totally irrelevant that I've got about 15 other tubs of various different creams on the side!

You're looking at it the wrong way round. Don't see as you have too many, see that you will have one missing when that ToBS runs out. It NEEDS replacing :p Maybe you could purchase a tub of Arrans and then we can compare notes. Yep, that seems like enough reasonable justification.

Why do we all do this? :D We bleat about DE shaving being more cost effective, then we get it in our heads that we have to buy all the expensive kit to get the best shave possible. I'm just as guilty for this. However, I'm sure your "cheap" bowl and brush will be just as effective and you may find the more expensive ones will not gain you much for the money. I've stuck to a cheap brush and I'm using a little pet food bowl to lather up in :D heh! I would splash out on a really nice expensive brush like some of the others here have, but I can't justify it when I have more important things to consider in life right now (BUYING A HOUSE FOR ONE!).

ha true, but the brush is a cheap wilkinson sword one for 4.50 and the soap and dish is a 1.50 wilkinson sword one, both from sainsburys! its the only stuff like that they sell. I certainly won't replaced the soap until its used I doubt, weird how I did not want to admit I was using them ha. Also I hear you on the house buying front, that's the reason I have been using all stocks of my old wilkinson sword before investing in a DE.

Floid aftershaves are nice (Floid Black is different to the others, more of a cologne smell wise).

Speick & Proraso aftershave splashes are both very good as well.

Thanks for the info !

No problem, let us know what you think of both them and the SIs as well.

cu3ed, I've never seen those but good that you've found The One.

CP, yes when I said "damn you", that's what I meant. I've almost emptied a tub so it'll need replacing :D

I posted just a couple of days ago saying I do four or five shaves/blade but I did a sixth today! No problems.

A fine Turkish shave this morning.

Derby menthol cream:
This cream produces a thick, stable and very protective lather. It has that classic Turkish lemon scent but lacks the menthol punch of something like Ingram. I'll enjoy using it with but it won't get replaced.

Arko extra sensitive AS balm:
A simple lavender/aloe vera based balm with mild peppermint astringent. I wouldn't call it 'sensitive' compared to Nivea sensitive or a base aloe vera gel (there's too many potential irritants) but it's a great balm. Highly recommended in the £1-£3 category.

Derby DE blades:
Trendy to hate but I like them! Fairly smooth, sharp and cheap. Poor qq compared to the more expensive blades though.

(All snipped from shavingworld's ebay store, keep your eye out for more stock clearance auctions)

i dont mind the Derby blades, i tried them again recently, not the sharpest, but the shaves were fine. I wont buy more as 7 O'Clock Black,Yellow, Green (RUS) are my favourites, but i'll use the ones i have.

I thought they were bad nearly a year ago when i started DE shaving, but it was just my technique it seems.
