* The Metal Thread *

I think this is relevant to the metal thread, I haven't been able to find this info out anywhere else...

Does anyone know how quickly the Sonisphere festival tickets sell out? I really wanna go but my mates arent sure yet, and I don't want to blow all that money if it turns out I have nobody to go with!

Just discovered these three thanks to last.fm:

Emmure

Veil of Maya

Bury Your Dead

Especially love Veil of Maya. Tech metal =

Edit:

I'm tempted by Sonisphere. Was going to go this year but had a wedding to go to, it's only just down the road from me as well which is a nice big bonus :)

Me and psymonkee will make you come if you don't :p

We went last year. Was awesome :D Most fun I've had at a fest since bloodstock the year before :p

Seen the Acacia Strain live, and yes I agree they were awesome

Also we bought our sonisphere tickets around about feb/march time last year, there were still loads left but then that was the first ever one so who knows how fast they'll sell this time. Either way I'll be buying one asap :D

Also, just listening to Job for a Cowboys latest album (ruination) and I'm actually quite dissapointed with it :(

It's not a bad album by any means, but for some reason, it just doesn't sound like that unique sound they had with genisis. Just sounds like a lot of other bands now.

I guess it just sounds too clean to me now. The rough sound they had on genesis was great. Where as this sounds quite cleaned up in the editing.

Haha Black metal spoofs are awesome. Transilvanian Hunger by Darkthrone but alternate lyrics :D

I just can't get into Darkthrone, I like other black metal bands such as Mayhem, Emperor, Enslaved and Immortal but no matter how hard I try Darkthrone just do nothing for me.

They all have considerably different sounds though, I'd say Enslaved sound the most similar to Darkthrone but even that is far off.

I think it is the production of Darkthrone I dislike...but Emperor have raw stuff like that, that I enjoy, not sure really.

Bathory are superb. Invented and pioneered both Black Metal and Viking Metal and all of the albums are great, the first three or four are all Black Metal and then he moves into the Viking Metal stuff with Hammerheart (although it's there on Blood Fire Death aswell). One Rose to Asa Bay is an immense track, and Quorthon paid for the video out of his own pocket apparently.

Much awesomeness - All the old school singers and guitarists getting together for Hear-n-aid. Far too much leather and big hair in one room but it's still pretty cool :D

Dio, Rob Halford (JP), Y&T, Quiet Riot, WASP, Blue Oyster Cult, Rough Cutt, Queensryche, Dokken, Twisted Sister, Journey, Iron Maiden,

Anyone bought tickets for the Sonisphere yet?

If we buy before Dec 31st we get a free ticket to Poland where THE BIG 4 are playing together for the first time in history (megadeth, metallica, anthrax and slayer).

I'm really annoyed/depressed as I know nobody that's into metal (thus have nobody to go with) but this would be an experience of a lifetime for me :(
