Nobody gave a crap about Snake until MGS came out, so I would hardly say he's been around since the 80's (not in the current form) as most the fanbase were spawned from MGS1 onwards.

Uh, this vote isn't about which game is more popular or which character is more well known, its about what they have done in the games. Snake has done a lot more than Freeman. The Snake fiction started in the 80s with Metal Gear.

Yeh I tried Freeman twice and got that, so I tried Snake too and got it just to see if it was rigged.
