The most impressive 3k you've played!

Agreed, I moved to 21:9 about a year ago and couldnt even fathom going back to 16:9.

Sure its a hassle with some games, but the hassle is worth it. Total immersion.

*another note, Battle for Middle Earth...heavily modded with the aspect ratio, resolution and camera fix is still pretty darn good at that res*

I wouldn't consider any other Res now that I've moved to 21:9. My next upgrade will be the 4k equivalent at 120hz (whenever it becomes available).

As for which games have impressed me:

All Batman
GTA V
SOM

It's good to know the Batman series is superb, I want to complete the trilogy. Got GTA V installed, but haven't played it much yet. Shadow of Modor is absolutely beautiful, it really is.

Same goes, this 21:9 upgrade is like upgrading to a Voodoo graphics card for Doom 2 or something that was taxing around 1997!

Battle for Middle Earth? Will look into that.

What graphics cards you guys using? I've got a KFA 2 1070, cheapest 1070 I think at £350. Surprise surprise, Metro 2033 is the only game I cannot Max out on!

980ti SLI. No issues maxing out any game. ;)

I've never been keen on using SLI as you get problems like micro stutter or something? It would be ideal for me to add another 1070 @ Christmas instead of selling this one and getting a 1080, hate selling stuff and making a £100 loss! So SLI works great for all/most games I take it?

It was a game I enjoyed back in the day when I had my 1280 x 1024 monitor.

There are quite a few mods out there now to get it running in 21:9, and it works a dream, although I decided to take it a touch further and edit each of the maps individually to pull the camera out more. Found a guide on youtube to achieve the desired result. Works a treat.

I'm trying to find a copy, it is like £60 new on DVD @ Amazon! That could be the follow up. Never played it and have been after a good RTS since Command and Conquer, I think that was the last one...

Witcher 3 on 3440x1440 is pretty special. On my newest play through I'm about 50 hours in and find myself stopping and admiring the view every few minutes.

Only other game I played and clocked on 21.9 is Black Flag and the immersion was great.

Love Black Flag, might complete it again. Yep, started a new Witcher 3 save :)

3440x1440 is Ultrawide QHD. 3840x2160 is UHD.

This whole #K thing needs to stop because there are multiple resolutions that get tied into a single name and it's nonsensical.

Thanks for that.

Thread title needs changed... my mistake.

EDIT: I do think however that 3440 not counting as 3k is nonsensical.

It's not 3K though is it? 3K literally means 3 thousand, it's almost half way through 3 thousand.

Why you go down the #K route, multiple resolutions end up being given literally the same name and that just makes it messy.

Based on the logic people use then these resolutions would be 3K:

2880*1620

2880*1800

3000*2000

3072*1728

3200*2400

3200*1800

3440x1440

Do you see my point?

Not wanting to derail, so last post on it. What defines 4k? It must be it's highest number? 4096, otherwise it wouldn't be 4k regardless of 2160.

I'm not sure what monitors or games that support the resolutions you've just made up? It seems perfectly acceptable to call 3440x1440 3k based on 4k logic.

Whats bizare is 4k should be 2160p

As 1080/720p where the vertical res, for somone reason though to show a bigger jump marketing started using horizontal res.

I didn't make any of those resolutions up. They're actually resolutions that are in use in various mass produced consumer products.

There's also no logic in the term 4K that actually makes sense. It's lazy marketing

Rise of the Tomb Raider a sight to behold at 3440x1440 although that is quite an obvious choice.

A less obvious choice that surprised and stunned me in equal measure was Borderlands 2, man it looks so crisp. I think it's style of graphics really shows off the higher resolutions.

Whoever decided to call UHD '4K' needs to be shot. They've just messed it all up just for marketing reasons.

That's another thing that grinds my gears. p... why p? Of course it's progressive scan, it's irrelevant!

Just write the resolution, it's literally takes seconds.
