Saw this type of thread on another forum I often frequent and it was incredibly interesting to see the lengths people often go to. One guy reckons he dropped over five grand renting a boat with a band, singer and a chef. I was wondering how much geeks spend on such matters, hence the post :p

My all time high on a first date never broke the £50 mark, so roughly £40 I'd say. Yep, I know how to show a lady a good time  :p

My all time high, was about £200, a lot of cocktails were drunk and oysters eaten in a champagne bar called Fish Bros. On Liverpool Street. Yes I'm an idiot.

*edit*

I have remembered it was a bit more than that... :(
It would help to explain things if I mentioned that I'd already had 4-5 pints before-hand thus explaining my stupidness.

Once I spent an absoloute fortune, was about £300 which considering at the time I was a student that WAS a fortune.

Went out with this lass I had liked for ages, never really expected to have a chance more sort of an admire from afar deal and was never that bothered about it. But one day we got to talking and one thing led to another and we ended up deciding to go out on a date.

Being a student I had nothing special planned, there was this lovely little family owned Italian resteraunt (talking 15 tables or so) just near why my old student place was so thought we will go there. Had a word with the owner who I knew off being local and he got us the best table, candle light, personal waiter even chucked in a free bottle of wine, the works.

So this was going to cost me around £50 but I thought what the heck its worth it. Was a great night and we didnt want to end it, so we went for a few beers, which turned into a bottle of wine too. Then decided to go into town and hit the casino, bit of gambling and some more wine and the costs are hitting £200.

We ended up in the nicest bar in town drinking champagne which by this point the money was gone. Must have been around £300 mark like I said.

But the end of the night made up for it :p pity was that she moved back to Ireland a few weeks later at the end of term and nothing came of it.

Though happy with the lass now and can safely say that the £300 nights out are firmly behind us, pizza and a dvd with a bottle of wine! :D

5 ******* grand!!! ... must be a banker ..... or is that spelt differently? ;)

£25 tops: bus, a cocktail, cinema ticket for 2 of us, follwed by another movie and chocs at home (free). 2+ years together after that. Subsequent dates (days out) worked out approx £50/date at least.

Around £15; bus fares, two cinema tickets, a pint and a gin & tonic. That was a lot, women didn't expect much in those days. :D

I don't think I've ever been on a first date as such, the 'first date' was usually a 'second encounter' :p

Probably £50 or so I imagine though, standard meal for two with a couple bottles of wine :)

Mine have all been second encounters too!

Never spend much, usually go to quite a nice bar somewhere out in the sticks. I've always thought meals were a little formal/uncomfortable for a first date.

hmm, including travel, probably £100 though it was a pretty packed day from 10am to about 11pm, lunch and dinner, cinema (for a break from talking >.<) few CDs (some mine, some hers, just was easier that way) but had some good fun :)

Only ever been to one proper first date (though tomorrow I have my second one as it happens).

I think I spent about £20, just a few drinks at the student union and then back to my my place in Halls. Which reminds me, while in the kitchen having something to eat, the girl that I asked out a week before (and turned me down I may add) who lives in the next flat walked in on us.

I introduced them to each other, I will never forget the look on her face, I wish I had a camera ! lol
