The Mummy

It was bugging me who the woman in the clips was as I knew the face but couldn't place her. I had to look her up on IMDB: Tommy Shelby's missus from Peaky Blinders !

Annabelle Wallis. More importantly, she played Jane Seymour in the HBO show 'The Tudors'. She's dating the singer from Cold Play as well I believe.

Perhaps if being a perfectionist = "absolute nightmare". Some of my family who worked with him on this film have nothing but praise for him for his work ethic and generosity.

Wonderful for them; however, numerous people I know through academia who have worked with Cruise, say different.

He is far from being the only nightmare in Hollywood, his saving grace aside from his star pulling power, is his acting ability. None of that redeemes his problems.

Is he nuts as hell? Yes

But I cant think of one Tom Cruise movie that I havent enjoyed. The trailer was.....ok......but I have faith.

Thing is everyone said "meh" about Edge of Tomorrow, I cant think of the last "Bad" film I seen with Cruise in it.

I absolutely loved Edge if Tomorrow. Also loved his cameo in Tropic Thunder as Les Grossman

I really warmed to him after I saw him drive a F1 car and back-flip a helicopter.

Really?..then they should say, cause everyone hes worked with have glowing reports how he is on set.
And its more telling how many people he has worked with in the past are always talking about getting to work with him again.

I'm instantly turned off any film with any 'hurrr we're the military hurrr' so I'm automatically meh about this. A convoy of army vehicles = dull army conspiracy / secrecy.

The problem is, you do one bad thing in front of inquisitive eyes and it'll be remembered forever. People are for more interested in what you've done wrong then what you've done right, especially if you're a high profile celeb like Cruise. Getting caught on a bad day will stay on his record forever.

Seems like a really nice guy to me. Always polite and attentive in interviews and the like. The scientology thing doesn't concern me. That's his business (literally, some would say).

Looks so generically hollywood, seems like a story that's been told 100 times before so why bother?

Well it's either that or endless OTT pointless sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean, Transformers, Fast & Furious and probably some others I can't remember at the moment.

But! People are entertained by this repetitive crap, so it's OK.

To be fair most Tom Cruise films are pretty memorable plot wise and are rarely generic. I doubt he would do it if it were that bland.

Which ones do you consider bland?

Edit - Collateral was perhaps one of his weaker ones.
pretty sure all of the mission impossible films have the same plot. gets betrayed/set up and has to go into hiding/rogue with the usual crew to discover the person from inside the agency that set him up using some overly complex plan....

that scifi movie with the alien harvesters was also about generic as you can get (oblivion), night and day? the jack reacher movies? compared to his early/mid career he is doing loads of bland generic movies

I can't deny the mission impossible films don't stray too far from the typical secret agent plot but they are genre defining and well executed.

I didn't think Oblivion was generic apart from Boregan Freeman.

Haven't seen night and day.

Jack Reacher 1 was watchable haven't seen the second.

Tom Cruise has done well to stay relevant and premium when you look at most of the other 80s superstars from his era. That alone says something about him.

I think he's an eminently watchable, quality action actor and seems a decent guy to boot.
