The nervous wait to exchange....

That seems very odd - if you suspect someone of money laundering you are not supposed to tell anyone as it could be classed as tipping off.

The main source of my deposit was a family gift. The mortgage company asked for a letter from the donor saying it wasn't a loan, which the solicitor had a copy of. 2 weeks before completion the solicitor decided they wanted another letter saying the same thing because it wasn't in their standard form. Could be something similar here.

There is probably nothing wrong but its just annoying that we could have exchanged as early as 18th September and now they decided to do further checks. Hopefully its just because they couldn't be bothered to finish the paperwork on Friday afternoon and will just do it Monday morning.

Had the seller of our place we are going to phone up and state exchange today or deal is off.

I said jog on oh and by the way I'll still be selling my place as we'll just back to my parents place, put stuff in storage and find somewhere else. Let's just say an apology appeared and nothing has change.

Exchange could be the end of the week.

have to say when we bought our house the solicitor we went with was totally brilliant! (how rare i know)
got reccomendations from pretty much everyone i know and she was the one that came out top of the pile.
From then on she kicked the agents into touch everytime there was even a minor problem and just rang us to let us know how it was going!

Well been in the house 2 and a bit weeks and still trying to sort out our mortgage. We needed a last minute amendment which was sorted on the day before completion but at the same time bank took it upon them selves to change our product to one thats going to cost us an extra £60 a month.
Finally got them to admit mistake and now in the "corrections" procedure. Which includes them doing a credit check on us (bit late now isnt it?).
Thought this would have been all over by now.

Nothing further from our sides :(

Just lodged a formal compliant against Allan Rutherford Solicitors for the shambolic service before we cancelled and found another solicitor.

That sounds crazy to me. So do you actually have a mortgage at all at the moment?

Some information today, looking like the 17th October potentially.....

Hope this works out OK. Any further threats from your seller?

Yup.. Our buyer can't complete for 17th so seller has said 22nd, I've said difficult and would prefer 24th. They responded by basically saying the 22nd isn't to be discussed and if we can't do that there will be consequences..

Oh seller has stated such a small exchange to completion date and our buyers lender requires 7 days notice to do a funds transfer

I've learned that the wife has a business trip then and I think it's a big money earner. So how is that my problem.

Really feel like just saying oh just **** off and let them put the house back into a cooling market...

The irony is the wife is a solicitor and works for the firm doing the conveyancing.

Buyer pulled out 2 months in - just marvellous news on a Friday afternoon...

Sorry to hear that, was bad enough for us when we lost a buyer after 2 weeks before any surveys. Time goes on and there will be a better one, we've got a great family buying ours now.

Have done the pre-plaster inspection a week or so ago on new place now - sounds like we might be in a little bit earlier in late November now as all on track. Now to get a snagging inspection arranged...

Fingers crossed for exchange tomorrow!! Only 6 weeks after we originally expected. The trouble is that's only on our sale, the purchase isn't going to plan either so we could be homeless.

Andi.

Well the sale fell through and we pulled out of our purchase. 1st buyer in our chain had his pre approved mortgage declined the day before exchange.

The house we were looking at had divorce issues between the couple!

A new buyer has now been found and exchange could be in a week or so, we've also found a new potential home so all looking a bit more promising.

Andi.

Offered £108,000 on a £120,000 house earlier in the week as a bit of a cheeky lowball offer (even though there is a bit of work that needs doing). Was declined and told they were looking for much closer to £120,000.

Ummed and ahhed for a bit about whether or not to offer about £112,000 and decided we really quite like it so offer £115,000 this afternoon as pretty much our max and as I genuinely believe that is what it's worth.

EA spoke to the wife who had to discuss with her husband. The EA manages to speak to vendor at about 5:3pm and in the end they declined saying they would only now take asking price and no less due to the house they were looking at buying!

We're FTB, no chain, large deposit, AIP, ready to move and the only proceedable party who has offered on their house up to press yet they now wont accept anything less than asking. Seems crazy to potentially miss out on the house they are looking at and also lose a prospective buyer for the sake of a few thousand! Bonkers!
