To replace the plastic umbrellas+speedlite tripod mount which cracked, a mag alloy one, no more cracking:
A secondary portable 2x3m backdrop kit for single persons shooting or products. The hardware seems to be good quality, the backdrops themselves feel thin but will do the job. I'll replace with good quality material sourced from a sewing shop in time. Not bad for £40.
The stands themselves are sturdy enough, the pole in the middle running across the top isn't lightweight either really. A heavier drape will have its weight distributed across the pole evenly so won't bend in the middle - Unless someone falls into it I don't imagine it will ever be a problem in use
I use a pair of Bowens stands and a rugged backdrop long enough for people to walk up to and on/around for large groups. This is not as tough as that of course but it's half the size of it also so relative to that it scales down pretty well. This easily fits in the car boot without having to fold the rear seats down which was one of the main things I wanted for single person shoots - Will know how it pans out in several weeks time!
No it's fabric on this, paper on the bigger kit we use, big roll that can be cut when that section is scuffed or whatever! Just a lot more hassle to transport and store though.

Quite pleased with it, the build quality is superb. I chose it over the later versions and the Zeiss Planar because it's got a nice medium/low contrast, high resolution look which really suits black and white work. I haven't shot a roll with it yet (it arrived this morning) but here are some test shots I took a few minutes ago with it mounted on my Fuji X-Pro 1 (the FOV is a lot tighter than what I usually work with for street):
The grain was added in post, although I'm not a fan of Lightroom's grain settings, it isn't random enough to not look like noise. The Fuji raws are very clean:
I've updated our website with some shots from the new 600 (clikpic dot com slash twodees - then click on latest images). All the ones up until the second moorhen (black bird with red beak!) are with the 600.
I will take a pic of the lens (and the rest of the kit) at some point
