Ideally I do want an F2.8 wide lens. I'm waiting to see what Canon launches over the next year - they just have to release a wide F2.8 lens based on the new 16-35 F4 IS DNA soon.
In the meantime I can hand hold shots at F4, 1/40 at ISO 12,800 in pretty dark rooms and still get decent results.
I'm not a Pro so have no requirement to print 20" photos taken in unlit basements
I used to have the Canon 28mm 1.8 on 5D2 and it was pretty nice, except the flare, it had crazy flare.
As for me after nearly a year of using the Nikon 35mm 1.8 DX on my D700 I finally bought a full frame lens for it. Nikon's modern f/1.8 lineup is one of the best reasons for going Nikon IMO -
I thought I'd give it a go while I have some spare cash, I bought it second hand at a good price and I got the hood with it so hopefully that'll help with flare.
Well I've dropped all of the Sony & Nikon gear I had in favour of this, the tilting EVF is a thing of wonder. Came with LR5 in free in the box as well which was a bonus! More lenses on the way next week as well.
Bought some more old film kit myself today, on the auction site, Contax 159 camera and a Contax Carl Zeiss 45mm f2.8 "pancake" lens
Wanted the S2b but they are listed at silly prices and mainly in Japan.
Also looking to have a play with a Nikon FE2 or FM3a.... Having some classic film camera withdrawal symptoms LOL
This is the only other pic I've got currently which was taken the day it arrived. I drove out with it still packaged up and I unpacked it in the car park of the local little nature reserve as I wanted to start using it. Several minutes later I had managed to get it out of the packaging!
Not the best shot since it's taken with my Lumia 920 instead of a dslr but meh
