The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

I Haven't finished the setup yet so wires are a little messy, but basically it will consist of the following.
16 HDD's & SSD's + Peripherals + Uninterrupted Power Supply + GPS Tracker in wooden box. GPS tracker will text me co-ordinates if box moves beyond specified radius. Box will be locked with thick metal chain and a number combination padlock. Box + contents should be too heavy for one person to carry.

Box is soundproofed and placed 6 meters from computer so it is out of the way. All devices are connected to computer over a single thunderbolt cable.

I'll remember that thanks! Hopefully I'll move in a couple of months and have my own study which I'll revamp my working space, that will come in handy.

It's it really wrong that despite getting a 70d and 17-55mm soon I really want the canon 180mm macro and mp E 65mm?

I see you've got a vent but I can't help but think that'll still get pretty warm without fans and even then I'm not sure how good the airflow would be. Might be worth sticking a thermometer in there as well with summer coming lol

Look at the picture above the vent picture. You will see an extractor fan that sit's the other side of the vent.
Temps stay pretty cool, but tbh I don't want them too cool as HDD's live longer under warm conditions.

lol, that isn't a macro.

Is the 100mm Macro not long enough?

The 180mm is a macro?
If I was going to get another macro it would probably be the mp E 65mm tbh, that lens fascinates me

If I was going long route I'd probably get 300mm f2.8 is (and sell my sigma 120-300mm)

Are we not talking about the same lens?

I searched high and low for that box. Found it on ebay and picked it up for a song at auction.
This is the seller in case you want a box.

btw, how was that box delivered? was it packaged well? and I notice that he letting some go with open auction but some with Buy It Now with a large price tag.

How much did you pick up yours for? I wouldn't mind spending say £50 but not £250.

Yep it was all packaged really well and delivered promptly.
I hammersniped it at £93 inc. delivery, but I think most tend to go around the £150 mark. I had my max bid at 253 just in case as it was/is literally perfect for what I wanted it for. I'd much rather pay the extra for something with a bit of character and history rather than something new/modern.
