I don't think I'll ever be able to compete on that level! Nevertheless, this arrived today.

I'm going to try it in November, going back to Tenerife and up Mount Teide - maybe do an overnight on the plain there. If I start to get along with it then I'll consider some faster primes, but this should do for now in good conditions.

Hmmm black trunk and large doesnt really go together. The big Sony lense are all white I think?

A little gutted it arrived while I was away on Mull last week [the store, who've been brilliant, did try to get it in before I left]. I only took one camera for that trip too, the a9, which excelled.

I was going to buy a new OnePlus 7T Pro mobile phone to replace my iPhone 7 as my 'always with me' camera, but then I realised compact cameras have so much better image quality, lens zoom, camera features and are small & light enough to carry around all of the time.

So I got this; a Canon G7X MkII.
It comes with a one inch sensor so image and low light quality are up there, a F1.8 24-100mm (equiv) lens which creates nice bokeh and is under 300g all in.

Hey Andy. Flickr pics looking good. The Mull pics were with the a9 + canon 600?. Your recent ones with the new 600? All look super sharp.

Planning to get the 500mmii canon then upgrade my 7dii to the 1dxii. Also pick up a x1.4tc. May wait to see what the 1dxiii has to offer.

Alternatively, a9ii with 200-600. Though I'm tempted to wait a bit longer and get the 600mm GM. I'm worried I'll miss the crop factor of the 7dii. The image degradation on the 200-600 with a TC is swaying me away.

Thanks. Yes, Mull pics were with a9 and either Canon 16-35 f4, Canon 600 II and Sony 100-400GM. Everything since then is with the Sony 600GM.

This arrived today - My new Canon 100mm F2.8 L IS Macro lens. I had a macro lens 15 years ago but sold it and really missed being able to get in close to subjects, so I got another

I felt I was missing out on the Nifty Fifty action, so grabbed the Canon 50mm F1.8 STM for £85. You really can't argue with the value/quality from this lens.
