The New Lian case. Li PC-7 SE-B II

Afaik this has been asked before and OCUK couldn't/wouldn't confirm either way but if you look at the people that have gotten them over the last few months, they've ALL been 120 + 120.

My problem is finding accessories for em :(

Yeh, there is nothing OcUK can do short of opening the boxes and checking them which is really a pointless exercise, wasting time and money.

And I'd like to say google is your friend...but it isn't I just checked...unless you are american, then google is.

dont see how it would be a pointless exercise, wasting time and money.it would take all of 5 mins to do .then if its the right case i would put a order in for one

The boxes don't have to be opend either because it says what fans it has on the outsie of the box.

This could potentially put people off coz they dont know what version they are getting (ie me). I really need clarification coz i need a new case and this is the one i want!

well it would put me off as well mate .i need to know what case i would be getting

You might say it was laziness on the part of a retailer - not specifying properly what they are purchasing from their suppliers, not updating their website to show the actual specification of what they are selling, not being prepared to guarantee anything about the contents of the box, in fact.

Suppose I wanted the original PC7 - the one with the 80mm rear fan. I order it from a store advertising the 80mm rear fan model only to find they have mis-represented the product on their web site. If they have knowingly mis-represented the product being sold, then I'm fairly sure it's defrauding the customer. It's certainly contrary to the Sale of Goods Act.

As we can't discuss the OcUK store here then this example will have to be for all stores selling Lian Li cases without knowing what the contents are, but you get the idea.

Caveat emptor

^^ Which is why i wont buy, until i know what i'm getting! I want an upgrade not something with no better cooling/noise than what i have now.

Well, then your choice is clear - either take a risk and buy from OcUK or buy from a retailer that knows what they are selling.

I'm not anti-OcUK (anything but), but this is daft and it's actually indefencible, certainly morally, and possibly legally.

Personally I saw the Lian-Li case and thought "that's the case for me", was unsure about the fans, and so bought it, and it has 2x120mm. I seem to recall the older one being 80mm at the back and the newer one being 120mm at the back, now OcUK often sell out which means they are often buying in new stock from Lian-Li who are making the stock, so OcUK are getting the latest revision of it.

There hasn't been mention of anybody getting one with an 80mm fan at the back for a year or so.

If you want the case you'll buy it either way, and if you aren't that sure you want it get something else.

I don't think anyone is saying they want to buy something else. What we do want is to know what we are buying up front.

Stores don't buy from Lian Li. There is a UK agent. There is an agent in Germany for the rest of Europe. There are agents in the US and other parts of the world. Lian Li do not sell directly to stores. So, the question is, which agent do a particular store buy their cases from? If it's their local Lian Li agent, they should get the latest case, unless the agent has a pile of old stock he wants to shift cheap. That's where a store could make a big splash for itself by saying that 'you get what's in the box'. They could buy up odds and sods cheap and sell them cheap. What they could not do is guarantee exactly which odd or sodd it was you were actually going to get. Which is why a lot of people will pay an extra £10-£15 and buy from a retailer that will guarantee it's going to be a PC7(B)+ II or whatever model it is.

Again, it's not permitted to discuss the OcUK store on these forums, so I'm deliberately being very general in my comments.

My point was more that with the number of cases that are sold and the number of people that have asked on the forums then reported back that it's the latest revision sujests that the suppliers are getting the latest gear which means you should all end up with the newer cases.

About the buying other cases thing, from the way some people's posts read it was that they didn't deffinatly want the case, in which case if you are unsure then buying is your best bet.

Personally I just loved the case in black and liked the idea of only having 120mm fans, ignored the fact that 80mm is listed and bought the case. If sound levels are an issue and you did recieve the 80mm version then just spend a bit on some low noise fans...which I did anyways, my 120 from the case have never been run.

come on Yewen have a look mate i saved all me pocket money up for this case and if i dont get this one me dad said he will buy me a ten bob one from the market .whatever 10 bob is

Yewen doesn't work for OcUK. He's not even in Stoke on Trent. If you're relying on a plea on these forums getting someone in store to have a look then Fatboy or Gibbo are more likely candidates, but they are unlikely to do it as then they'd have to do it for everyone.

As I said before, either take the (low) risk that you won't get the latest version or use froogle to find a supplier that definitely does have the version you want. The + (plus) version has two 120mm fans, the +II version has the 'Patent Cooling' 120mm fan on a sliding bracket at the bottom of the case. So the Plus II version has 3 120mm fans included. This bottom fan is not the BS-01 blower fan, which is a £14 optional extra.

im gona take the low risk as im 100% positive that ill get the 2x120mm version as over the months thats what people are getting.

Seen as its been 120/120 since easily Sept 2005 from OcUK my money is also on OcUK having the most current model.

To the comment of 120/80 if you receive a 120/120 technically OcUK have completed their end of the contract by providing goods of better specification, you could always return if you did not get your desired 120/80.

120/120 would be what I would expect from OcUK, a while back the PC7+I (80mm) and PC7+II (120mm) shared the same box, which is why I think this whole situation developed.

I will chase it up again with the store guys anyway for you, but just read it as 120/120 as I have yet to know anything other than that be shipped, be it PC7aSE, PC007 or PC7+II.
