I've heard many people mention Titanium Backup quite a few times. Might do all the above.

Would MyBackup be fine (as its free)? Looks like its just there is no ability to backup to their servers.

You just backup to SD card.

Its a standard micro USB.. I,m using the lead from my camera to charge mine...

Okay, I reset my phone and restored contacts using mybackup root but every time it isn't long before all the contacts are duplicated and I get some error about too many contacts deleted, with a few options. None of the options do anything :S

Don't restore your contacts, just sync up with your google account.
