The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Going to get one of these tomorrow. Got it pre ordered. Whats the best ROM to put on it? I noticed a few of you guys are using different ones.

You still have an 'other device' in one of those pics.

Have you downloaded the USB Drivers that both me and Moogleys have now posted multiple times, and the ones I posted (Which are also in the OP)...?

I would also try the files in a directory ON the C:\ drive, as opposed to actually on the C:\ drive directory :p

If all of that is done, including the missing device i can see in one of your screen shots, then its the x64 bit O/S

EDIT:

Have you downloaded the two drivers in my post?...No idea if its x32 bit specific though

Check your Device manager with the phone turned on, and with the phone when it is showing the green Android constantly...and again check device manager

Meant to be the safest one to use, apparently (according to the posts on Modaco) some users report the new one working while others don't.

BrbDieHard2.

New Clockworkmod casues the Roms to error on loading..

Having a read around it could well be XP thats causing your problems, There area few people using 64bit XP that are having similar problems as yourself.

When you hold the power button and the up button to freeze the phone on the Android logo is when it will install the drivers. It seems XP fails to reconise this and does not install the drivers. I,m not sure if you could manually force it to install them..?

I did mine on 64 bit windows 7 home pro 1st time with no problems, following the modaco guide.

Quick question of my own, if I wish to put on a 2.2 rom (currently on modaco r4 2.1) will I lose all of the apps I already have?

quick question guys, id left mine on overnight and i looked at the task manager this morning and quite a few thing had started running in it like settings and some touch type thing, id used the kill all option the night before. how can i stop them from starting up when they want

From what i read it is just the way android is, it learns what you use often and preloads them into the memory and only unloads them if you run low on memory and an active app needs it.

I could be completely wrong though lol

What is currently the best deal on this phone?

£99 at Orange minus £12 cashback via quidco. Plus the £10 top-up is £97 total.

Anyone seen it cheaper?

How much better is the San Francisco than the mighty...wait for it....Nokia N80?

£97 seems about the cheapest you will get it i think, as for comparing it to the N80 i have no idea this is my first Android smart phone i upgraded from the mighty 5-6 year old Samsung D900.

I've got an annoying problem with my SF.

Somehow the A, Z, Q and W keys have all switched around on the TouchPal input method/keyboard layout so that it's no longer a QWERTY layout, making it very annoying to use. Any idea how I change it back to normal?
