I know I was tired it was 4am, stupid of me.
 
To me, it looks like the good old Max Payne engine with extras, so chances are it'll work pretty sweet on lots of hardware, not just cutting edge, just like max payne did.
 
Christmas, Intel's development was going so well, the brought it forward... So they say.I've heard no prices, but i hope it'll be something similar to the step up from Single Core to dual core was. Though Intel will have a monopoly on the Quad market until Q2 2007, apparently, so prices could be silly till then.

well if they had a brain they would keep them low.....just to PAWN all them amd fanboys!!! just like they are now :p
 
Like most things it will be a case of not buying for Christmas but waiting till AMD release theirs and see the price war commence...which us as the consumer will win because they'll battle to lower the prices. :)
 
Judging by current form, Intel's chips are going to be pretty special. However, AMD's architecture scales better as you add more cores than Intel's, so we could be looking at more competetive chips from AMD when they bring their Quad Cores out.

Yep, same here. Even tho my rig is lesser spec'ed.

I'm thinking this time next year (or even much earlier) there will be a lot more exciting choices when I come to upgrade properly :)
 
That vid looks awesome. :D. Makes my little rig look so poor. But having said that I think my next upgrade won't be for another 12 months as I will want to wait until both AMD and Intel start maturing the quad core platforms. I think we will see something similar to the GFX card market with new chips coming out every 3 months with more and more cores.

Also if the ATI / AMD takeover/merger is successful I think Intel will have to keep on their toes to compete.

I don't see how it can be a bad thing to be honest. The AMD/ ATI merger is an unknown at the moment and since its announcement I haven't heard if it has been completed and aproved yet.

Remember that Intel currently have a bit of a monopoly in both the CPU and GFX card market and if memory serves me they have a greater than 50% share of the Gfx card market given that their on board solution is included in most OEM built system. Now they may not be the best gfx cards on the market but Intel have seen that if they want a slice of the high performance market they have tried to team up with both Nvidia and ATI implementing both SLi and X-Fire solutions to limited success I think.

I'm sure there must be more worrying things happening in all things PC.

I by no means don't know everything that is happening in the world of PC at the moment so I may be out of touch a little.

edit: looks like the merger is still awaiting approval so I'm guessing we'll hear something in the next few months.
