The next Labour leader thread

I can see Labour splitting if Corbyn wins.

It will divide into real Labour and Tory lite. People seem to have a clamour for Labour roots, Labour values. The poor are being utterly left behind while wealth among a few sky rockets. One person owning as much wealth as someone needing to work for tens of thousands of years.

I think he will. Corbyn has shown himself unable to lead, Smith will struggle not to be better. Will he win the next election? Maybe not, but he will do less harm to Labour in the process.

Corbyn could lead if the dead weight and anti-labour were to vanish. All one has to do is spend twenty minutes looking at Labour MPs twitter accounts to see that Corbyn is a threat. Why? The old adage of follow the money. Much of the Labour Party is now cronies in waiting.

"Corbyn could lead if the dead weight and anti-labour were to vanish"

Well I could lead that party if anyone who didnt agree with me wasnt in it. I have no doubt he has a core of supporters that will carry him through but thats really as far as its going to go which is why I call it a disaster - once he has a mandate from the party and continues to be completely ineffectual in opposition he will just sit there.

Its almost like hes not trying anymore because he has already got his goal and that is control of the party. Whether he wins a GE or not is completely not on his radar at all

anything but Corbyn really, the guy is a worm of a man.

Hold on, you've looked at the *other* Labour MPs, and you've singled out *Corbyn* as a worm?

Well I guess if he's a worm, the Labour party as a whole is filled with snakes. Or at least the PLP anyhow.

This is the stuff that is going to break your party - calling anyone but Jezza and his mates Tory lite plus all the other stuff at the moment is just a joke.

At least they are trying to be an opposition, work together and win an election.

Why do you think he will win when 70% of his own party don't even support him?

That's the PLP... Not the real people flesh and blood air breathing members who number over half a million.

Why would anyone who is outside of london care who the mayor of london is?

The poll is not about Mayor though. Its about a view of "favour" among just Londoners who lets face it kicked up the biggest fuss and threw more toys out the pram when Brexit happened

If Jezza flounders, I demand this be your sig for that parliament! :D

Flounders the leadership you mean? I've no problem with that but if he wins your sig must read: Raoh really is the best :p

so hardly anyone when it comes to actually winning a GE

well when you're doing a popularity poll about the mayor of London it seems bizarre to ask people outside of London who will go "who?"

Personally i think khan won it more because the tory candidate made himself unelectable with his terrible campaign than anything else.

Not at all. You don't have to be a card carrier to support and more importantly you don't have to be a member to vote for him in a GE.

Why ask about Corbyn at all? Its this incessant msm narrative again isn't it. The same ones only filing a small portion of a crowd thousands strong. The msm works in very pernicious ways that you can easily suss.

Well that is of course your opinion and you are entitled to it :)

The PLP are real people flesh and blood air breathing people too. More importantly, they're the people who have devoted most time and effort into defeating the Tories and creating a Labour government. They're also the people with the most experience of what Corbyn is actually like, as opposed to the man we see at rallies or on TV.

I think the antipathy that has developed towards the PLP from some parts of the Labour membership is extremely dangerous.

No, they are the self serving interest loving parliamentarians. Again, a quick look through TheyWorkforYou will show you a lot of their client base. I was astounded a few years ago to learn that MPs spend so much time meeting with private interests :-|

If they put as much effort into actually defeating the Tories as they are trying to remove an elected man from their party membership the Tories would already be defeated.

It is but at the same time could herald a new beginning. Its that Labour roots again. Its quite clear the brand of Governments from conceivably Thatchers time and beyond have utterly failed the poor with just one or two small exceptions.

huh?

all it was was a graph comparing the approval ratings of corbyn and khan.

they ask about corbyn because hes the leader of the labour party and hence his approval ratings are somewhat important to statisticians.

it wasn't a "who do you like better" poll, it's two separate polls.

1 of lenders of their opinion of the mayor

1 of the country on thier opnion of the party leaders.

i think in the eyes of many this is one and the same thing.

corbyn is making them largely unelectable, to have a chance at defeating the tories they first need to get rid of him.

after all if they where purely self serving and corbyn had a real chance of winning they'd be backing him, you get better back room deals if your the ruling party i imagine.

If you go into any CLP in the land, you will find that the locals think highly of their MP. The truth is that MPs are far more decent, hard working, and dedicated than their given credit for. You spend your time screaming against the mainstream media but on MPs you've brought their smears hook, line, and sinker.

If they put as much effort into actually defeating the Tories as they are trying to remove an elected man from their party membership the Tories would already be defeated.

But this is precisely the problem with Corbyn; his inability to lead, organise, or stick to a strategy he's previously agreed is making it nigh-impossible for the rest of the PLP to take the fight to the Tories. This is why they want rid of him.

So how much favour then:
here's Khan vs Corbyn's personal rating among Londoners:

Nothing to do with the Mayoralty.

they ask about corbyn because hes the leader of the labour party and hence his approval ratings are somewhat important to statisticians.

But all the stats in all the world go out of the window when an acid test is done. Corbyn has immense popularity among the grass roots. He has won an election and all the Blairites want to do is get rid. What a kick in the teeth for paying members that is!

it wasn't a "who do you like better" poll, it's two separate polls.

Among Londoners..... Londoners are far removed from the rest of England as Brexit showed them.
