The next Labour leader thread

Yes, I use trains all the time. He didn't even seem to check the reservation tickets - the train was going to Scotland so some of those seats won't have been reserved for his journey to Newcastle anyway.

Plus you ignore the unreserved coach he walked through? Why?

You only reserve a seat for your journey, not the whole route. I have reserved from Crewe to London Euston on a train originating from Glasgow. I do not expect that my seat is unoccupied for the first half of its route.

I also use unoccupied reserved seating from London on the return trip as i do not know beforehand which train I will use. Sometimes I will have reserved a seat which I do not use as I travel earlier or later.

Corbyn in "Is actually like other politicians" shocker

It does concern me that people put him on such a high pedestal.

I understand that a large portion of the young populace are frustrated with modern politics, but putting Stalin in office and worshipping at his feet isn't exactly an appropriate alternative.

Is this the video footage piece?

You don't know whether the coach before filled up. Checking reserved seats? You would really go through 30+ tiny tickets holding up people behind you?

Again... Have you ever seen some peoples reaction when you sit in a reserved seat? Again, other people travelling confirmed it as packed.

This piece is also the be all and end all argument: A conductor even came and asked if he wanted a seat in first class (thus proving there were no seats), he declined because "he's not a first class ticket kind of guy" and the conductor took another family and bumped them up to first class. Not to mention other people had selfies with him at the time and later tweeted that the train was packed.

While I've never done that journey specifically, the journey to Scotland via a northern route was quite possibly one of the busiest I've ever had. I was standing for a couple of hours at one point but made sure my partner had her seat despite a passenger trying kick off at me that it was reserved to them.

I don't think you realise who Stalin is and are just another media node who lets them think for him...

Damn you with your logic and truth ;)

Honestly how people think that 5 minutes after leaving a station its not ok to sit in reserved seats is beyond me. Worst case the person happens to turn up as they have been elsewhere on the train. Dont sit in it before the train is a few minutes out, but loiter nearby would be my advice ;)

Commuter trains are packed.
First train after off peak is packed.
I have rarely seen a train (in fact I cannot think of a single time ever) that outside those times doesn't have a seat for everyone.

Corbyn failing at common sense. Ah now is that a surprise ;)

He was walking through it before it filled up! Why didn't he sit down?

Where were these people going to come from? Helicopter transfer? The train didn't stop until York!

Last time I got the the train down to London (back in May), Friday mid-morning, busy but with seats, was offered a upgrade just because.

If there are empty seats in first they see if anyone wants to upgrade

Ironic post is ironic.

Socialist ideologies with roots in Leninism makes Stalin and Corbyn comparable at the root of their political belief system.

It's loose given the progression politics has made since 1924, obviously, which is why my post was tongue in cheek.

But don't let that stop you from jumping in front of a train to defend Corbyn because "Jez we can". Hope that socialist worker media is letting you think for yourself. luls

For the same reason I don't sit down in the first seat I come to.

Logic fail again here then TW... If those reserved seats were only for (as you assert) part of the journey (as according to you it didn't stop till York)... Why then did a Virgin train conductor come and offer a first class upgrade if there were unused seats? Why did other people tweet confirm it was full?

That is the question to refute everything.

They do but Corbyn isn't a first class kind of guy. If he was in First Class the media would doubtless be running #Firstclassgate or some other jumped up storm in a tea cup story.

Lol what a fail. I suggest you check where Stalin sits on a political compass then come back to me. Stalin... A mid left very authoritarian vs Corbyn a mid left very liberal, he's almost as far apart as you can get on the left wing compass, but don't let that get in the way of thing lulz

The only word connecting Stalin and Corbyn is Socialism. But again, don't let my statements get in the way of things.

Just accept he balls'd up on this one - what is the point is trying to argue every little point about the bloke trying to make him look like the messiah. Everyone has their flaws and fall foul of somethings now and then. Probably would have been forgotten about by now but the constant defence of what clearly is video footage is just a waste of time and carrying it on making it worse.

Train had seats (in other coaches) end of....

Except... It really didn't hence the Virgin conductor coming and asking if he wanted an upgrade eg... He did not say "oh come this way to coach E sir there is a seat... Come this way to coach G sir there is a seat" nothing... He offered first class because there were no seats.

And, it has to be said... To trust Branson on this measure is just lolworthy.

End of the matter is there were no seats. The only person able to refute it at this point is someone who was actually on the exact train as Corbyn.

Edit: Which incidentally passengers on that train confirmed it and other users of the same train have done so. The media lied... Get over it

Perhaps you need to look at the behaviours of your saviour and his allies since he became Labour party leader, before you discount any possibility he is authoritarian. You need to account for changes to how politicians can act in the modern age compared to the early 1900's.

There is more that can connect Corbyn with Stalin, especially when you account for progression to the modern era of politics and social media. Corbyn can't have MPs locked away or killed for disagreeing with his socialist stance these days, so tactics have changed. But there is plenty of overlapping sentiment if you look at it with pragmatism, rather than blind faith.

As I said, it was tongue in cheek as a true comparison isn't really valid after 8 decades of progression, but to deny any kind of similarity is ignorant.

The idea of "decent socialism" in the further left areas of the Labour party is a farce. I have been at labour party meetings and seen first hand how people with opposing views to Corbyn have been treated.

"Brecht’s communists spent as much time fighting social democrats as Nazis in the 1930s. The Corbynites’ real enemies are not Tories, whom they rather respect for standing up for the interests of their class, but Labour MPs who fail to show the required radical virtue and betray the leftwing cause. They don’t mutter darkly that there will be “no hiding place” for Tory MPs who voted in favour of bombing Isis. They don’t scream that Conservative women are “witches” and “cows”. They don’t deliver death threats to David Cameron.

Their virtuous hatred is righteously reserved for their own side and its ugliness will destroy the myth of leftwing decency more thoroughly than the right ever could."

Owen Smith isn't perfect, but he's the better option for any hope of a proper Opposition to government.

No, Corbyn would probably ban first class as being elitist.

The media wouldn't be talking about #FirstClassgate because no-one would've known about it. The only reason this became a story is because Corbyn (or rather his people) put a video on YouTube in which he lied about there being no seats, and used that as a basis to argue for renationalisation.

Fox you are ignoring that a conductor came and offered a first class upgrade because no seats were available. You'll have to argue it with the conductor rather than me.

My view of the PBC is abysmal at the best of times but this type of thing they should be struck off for as they have with Corbyn utterly failed their charter.

Plus other peeps said the train was packed.

And people say I post drivel... Lol... Corbyn cant have MPs locked away or killed for disagreeing.. Times have changed... *shakes head in disbelief*

Owen Smith as well... The guy who says to ignore democracy..

No, Corbyn would probably ban first class as being elitist.

No he wouldn't Hambut, hyperbole strikes.

He did not lie... The mere and empirical fact that a conductor came and offered first class upgrades because there were no seats demolishes the PBC pushed bull. Even other passengers (which according to earlier evidence Londoners don't like Corbyn) even they agreed and tweeted there were no seats.

Why do you keep pretending there is no CCTV footage?

Haha. Clearly you are wilfully ignorant of how members of the PLP and others allied to Corbyn have been behaving towards those who do not tow the line.

Carry on :)
