****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

I think Black & White are DS titles yeah, but I read somewhere that the company who produce the Pokemon games have been working on something since mid 2010 so we'll see. :)

The 3DS plays DS games though.

And the resolution is 800x240 (400x240 per eye effectively due to two beamed images) WQVGA

The bottom screen is 320x240. QVGA

Sorry I thought I mentioned the screen resolution in the OP but I must've missed it. :(

I just meant the bottom, 320x240! Yus.

Thought it was that.

:)

Out of interest what didn't you like about the looks? Personally I love the blue and red ones, I think that black bezel really looks stylish. Not so keen on the black one as it just looks like a constant block of colour, not ugly, but not as nice as the red & blue.

The touch screen is raised too high for my liking and the top screen is sinking into the middle too much...

It's really just nit picky things that I do. I do like the general form factor though, just those niggles really. Which I'll get over as soon as I hear OoT intro music. :p

Edit - A side note: the 3D can be turned down/off if you feel nausea, which some people do.

Yeah I can see your point. Something which is puzzling me is that most of the ones being used as demo models have all had different finishes. I hope they go with a glossy look, that last image of the blue one in the OP is really nice imo. I never owned the original DS but I'm looking forward to this one so much, it even justifies the price tag slightly as I'll be able to play all the no doubt great DS games that I've missed out on.

I think it will be fantastic but I'm a nintendo fan boy to a degree. :p

The finish looks pearlescent so in different lights different shades come out.

The fact they've made it backwards compatible is brilliant, imagine getting this and having to change to your older DS to play some classic DS titles? No thanks. :p

Concerning the battery, I think it will last a lot longer than the conservative rate of 3-5 hours. it's around 5-8 playing DS games apparently, which is also with the 3D effect on. Unsure, need more details first.

Yeah our heads are under sand at the moment. Just a few vids and demos.

I wonder what the CPU/RAM is too.

The graphics chip is looking to be really impressive, especially with handling lighting.

It seems the ign specs are wrong, from the one stolen off the production line we know it uses 1 arm cpu and has 96 mb of ram for games, people assume that it has 128mb ram total with 32 reserved for the os.

Yeah there seemed to be confusion so I left the RAM and CPU specs as TBA until we know for definite.

DS was region free and that's heavily pirated, can't get much worse than that.

I'll be getting a US machine, Nintendo are terrible with long delays between Europe and the US, not having a Euro machine if it's going to be locked.

Will you need to pay to have games and stuff imported?
