****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

I think the best bet (or most likely the safest) is Pilotwings.

Main reason I've gone for it is It's probably the best game for jumping in and out of and just having a quick blast, which will hopefully tide me over until something tangible comes out.

I think I'll get a lot of re playability out of it.

My reasoning exactly. Plus it's a tenner on that Tesco deal so not the end of the world.

Also, if you buy this months Official Nintendo Magazine you get a free 3DS carry case.

Some Splinter cell 3D game play.

The frame rate looks good, it just seems they are using the touch pad for what the buttons should be used for and using the buttons for what the touch screen should be used for, very strange choice.

I can't believe they are selling the resident evil mercenaries as a seperate game, who on earth would buy that

From some of the videos I've seen it does look rather good, even though it's essentially just the extra game mode from 4/5. As XPE says, I think it would be a perfect handheld type game, each mission only a few minutes long, great for dropping in and out of and again it depends how many levels and stuff they include, I don't think it will be like Resident Evil 4 when there were only like 4 or 5 levels. Plus there is always Resident Evil Revelations to look forward to, which looks great in my opinion. :)

But the mercenaries is just a mini-game, and one which wasn't hugely fun. I really don't think you can carry an entire game on that concept alone, especially when it's 5 years old!

I think Capcom are trying to cater for audiences who like drop in and out games and audiences who are looking for more of an immersive single player experience, hence the two different RE games coming this year. I totally agree when you say that only having the same amount of content as that one mode isn't really enough for a game, we'll just have to see what they do, I'm sure there'll be some sort of addition to it, there has to be. :o

I quite enjoy drop in games, though I do have a small problem with the Price.

I don't know how they could compare with say iPod/Android alternatives which are drop in games but usually either 1/2 or 1/3 of the price that this will be selling for.

Full games with a fleshed out story, well made campaign and then the extras is worth a full price but I don't really think I'd pay top whack for a game that's essentially a "minigame" for the price of a full game.

I think for stuff like Mercenaries it should be on Nintendo's new market at a much lower price rather than a released title at full whack.

I'd definitely buy it if it was £10-12 on the Nintendo Store, but at £25-30? no thanks.

Yeah I agree, I think the concept is good, quick 3 and 4 minute fun blasts, but they will possibly need to add something for it to be worth the same as a full priced game with a good single player story. If it had a lot of levels and online co-op, maybe a few other fun modes instead of just killing people against the clock then I think it would be worth the full price but if it's just a handful of levels and one mode then I agree it isn't worth it.

After seeing that video of splinter cell, gotta say that's sealed the deal for me. It was between that and Resident Evil I want a game I can pick up for a few hours just a shame the Spy vs Merc multiplayer wasn't included.

I don't know if I'm 100% convinced, certain parts looked quite awkward, like the part where he walked through the door and had his gun drawn, he tried quickly shooting the enemy but it looked like he missed a few times due to the non-analogue nature of the aiming. Still, at least the frame rate seemed smooth, maybe it's worth getting and if I don't like it I'll just trade it back in, not as if we have much in the way of variety at launch. :D

Well, I had preordered online, then cancelled, then tried one in Game for about a minute on Pilotwings, got a semi and pre-ordered with Morrisons :p

Anyone know how much games in Morrisons are going to be?

If you get a semi when playing Pilotwings, then god help you when you play DoA :p, and probably £35, Vavvi and Amazon seem to be the cheapest

Played on a 3ds on Friday in game, the Guy showed me what he described as an ar card on the desk and I had to hit targets. It seemed pretty cool like I was looking 'into' the screen and it had depth. Was pretty cool but o
I won't be buying at launch I don't think.
