****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

Might get one of these in june for zelda etc although only games I currently want are

Splinter cell (pending reviews)
Ocarina of time
Starfox
Metal gear solid

Although I've played 3 of the above games before in previous formats so I'm a bit unsure.

Also having a look on another website theres a gundam game and dragonball Z game coming out which would be cool.

I've never had a ds (although my big brother has a DSL and an xl and my little brother a DS so I've had experience of them, just never been a massive handheld fan.) Things could change though as I'm more of a pick up and play gamer now (well, currently, I never even bother to pick up :p).

Can get 10% off at asda as I work there so I could profit well out of that come the time I want to buy one.

Do you guys think the 3ds will go up in price in asda between now and the end of may?

I finish exams at the end of may, and I'll probably want more games then, but if I can get a standalone 3DS for just as cheap now (£170) is that a better deal? (will it go up in price in supermarkets?)

I'll probably want splinter cell with it so is there anywhere cheaper than ~£196 with a game (game will be cheaper by may no doubt.)

For the people interested in seeing some Rayman gameplay footage. Having never played Rayman before apart from on the GBA I'll be picking this up on launch day. I personally think it looks great.

Edit: Summary of the most important points if you don't speak ze German, according to some guy on another forum.

-could be a bit too difficult for beginners
-a tiny bit bulky, because the the circle pad is too near to the shoulder buttons (?)
-great humour
-nice level design+graphics (Huge difference to the DS version)
-gameplay rich in variety
-better in 3D

Im quite close to cancelling my pre-order. Aside from Zelda and Pilotwings (which is being touted as a minigame more than anything), theres not a whole lot else I'd like to play.

Zelda will be out in June so you'll only have to buy it then! That's if there's availability :P

To be fair, until the likes of Zelda appear, that IS a valid comment.

I'm completely baffled how so many people are excited for a 12 year old game. Which will cost £30. That has been available on the N64, GameCube and Wii.

I watched my friend play it and I played it just past water temple when I borrowed his N64 but I wan't to play it properly again. It takes me back to a time where I really enjoyed gaming, now a days it feels like I'm almost forcing myself.

I might get Rayman as well now, This could be the rebirth of some excellent Oldschool Adventure games, I just hope we don't get regurgitated crap like Spyro the dragon, and as much as I like Crash bandicoot it's a bit old.

While I'd still enjoy getting rayman (and 100% will get it after I've played with Pilotwings) I want to see some new stuff, Like Banjo, Rayman, Oddworld was back in the day.

I just really hope this is the start of something new.

Yes and because they are the only two games on the console which i want to play I will most likely be cancelling my preorder (nothing else available), i.e. for the same reasons which you have stated. Infact... I said this earlier:

Don't get me wrong. When I first heard the lineup titles such as Zelda, Pilot Wings, Starfox etc, I thought hell yes! All the old classics from N64 which I grew up with and love, being able to play them on a portable. Great!

But then I thought... £200... for what is effectively a portable console... to play games which are available on home consoles which I can play at a fraction of the cost at home... ok yes, its portable, you can play them on the move... but at a price of £200, for me personally, too much.

In fairness I am still debating the preorder cancellation. Would be so much bloody easier if my local GAME shop actually had a ruddy unit on display.

Aren't Spyro and Crash Sony IPs?

Crash Bandicoot is atleast.

I've cancelled my pre order, going to put the £200 notes towards upgrading my PC instead.

If the Resident evil game (not the mercenary one) is an exclusive and is really good, I'll pick one up later.

I think they were, I've definitely seen Spyro DS and Gamecube games also some form of crap Bandicoot games for Nintendo consoles.

Not that Crash is rubbish, but I think they milked it a bit.

*After looking there are quite a few DS/Wii spyro and bandicoot games.

If Only Rare were free from Microsft :\
