****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

Crash Team Racing was indeed amazing.

Having seen the comments about the battery life, I'm not sure I'll keep my pre order or not, I'd be getting this mainly FOR using when I'm out / travelling so having it run out of battery would suck.

I'm hoping we'll see some decent quality 3rd party battery packs come out, or even an official one at a later date; 3-5 hours with 3DS games and 3D is shorter than I'd have liked, especially after the 10-15 of the DS, but then it's in line with the PSP as far as I'm aware so I'm not shocked.

Hopefully battery life playing DS games will be longer!

I just hope we see the game support speeding up; I'm kinda surprised the launch line up is so quiet given how things went with the DS.

I think its just the leap in power of the 3DS, that is given dev's the problems, gone are the days a small team could put out a DS game in 6 to 12 months.

I'm thinking I'll probably end up going for SFIV now after hearing that Splinter Cell doesn't have very good controls and that it's hard to see anything. The face buttons for aiming are just fail, it's why I never played many shooters on my PSP:(

I've made an aa battery USB charger for my 3ds/phone. The 2700mah rechargeables I use should give me about 2 full recharges.

I'll admit I'm considering switching to the Tom Clancy game; I actually like turn-based strategy in doses and the previews look decent, whereas Splinter Cell is starting to sound a little mediocre, not to mention I'm not the biggest fan of the series so I might get more from GR.

Preorder cancelled. Pilotwings is "poor" and Zelda has yet to see the light of day and even then those two games (effectively re-releases) do not justify shelling out near £200.

I've so far bought: Chrono Trigger, Radiant Historia, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time & Bowsers Inside Story.
Should keep me going until the 3DS titles start flowing,

Chronotrigger's a good shout. Plays well on the DS, borrowed a friends to play it (I have the SNES version too imported, one of my all time favourite 2d games). Think my copy is probably dodgy/slightly faulty though as the saves work but take inordinately long :(

If you like RPGs, Golden Sun DS is probably worth a look too, as well as some of the Final Fantasy re-releases/remakes.

Yeah I'm not a massive fan of the Splinter Cell series as a whole, I like the gadgets and the sneaking around, trying to complete the levels with no alerts or lethal kills or anything, but I'm not really interested in the story at all. I was only going to pick up Splinter Cell as I initially thought it would just be a nicely polished version of Chaos Theory with some added 3D goodness. I can't believe they have mapped the aiming to the A,B,X,Y buttons, maybe there will be customisable controls, I don't know why they haven't just let the player hold down one of the shoulder buttons to toggle analogue aiming, it doesn't make sense. I heard that it's also quite dark and hard to see at times but then Splinter Cell has always been like that apart from Double Agent, that's kind of the point of having night vision, you wouldn't need to use it if you could see properly in the first place. :p

One game I'll definitely be avoiding is Asphalt 3D, it looks nothing but generic. I doubt it will ever happen but I'd love Shenmue on the 3DS, they've already shown with Rayman that they can have Dreamcast visuals running on it so I don't see any reason why the hardware would be restrictive, still, it's just a dream. I'm hoping for another GTA game as well. Or even just a rehash of 3/VC/SA. :)

I'm going to get one of these for my 11 year old niece. Can someone please recommend some games she'd like? I have no clue what's being released off the bat...

Yeah if she likes animals I would get her Nintendogs, I would like to suggest Rayman but I have no idea if that is the type of game an 11 year old would be able to play.

Thanks, that sounds like a great idea - nintendogs should be ace!

If you are looking for DS game to play on it, go for Last window The secret of cape west, currently playing it on my DS, fantastic game its a sequel to Hotel dusk:D

Splinter cell does sound a bit strange, there has been plenty of games on the ds that has used analogue aiming, including a mobile port of splinter cell. While the frame rate was awful it at least had good aiming

Just for anyone still looking, it seems Tesco are running thier preorder offer again [3DS and a game for 207 and quidco-able] until Tuesday. :)

What a pullava I just had trying to amend my Splinter Cell/3DS preorder though. Apparently Tesco CS can't amend a preorder [wha??...its not even released yet and you've not taken funds yet...], so had to get that cancelled, only to discover the website treats the preorder code as having been used and not repeatable (known bug).

What they've had to do is wait until I'd pre-ordered the 3DS again via the website [so they know Im not pulling a fast one], and once I'd let that go through and they could see the fresh preorder code, they then had to credit my account with £24.99 so I can still get a game for £10...but the e-wallet isn't useable against preorders so I have to wait until Friday and the title is released to order my copy of GR.

Shame I already have my copy of Pokemon or I'd just go **** it and use it on that haha
