The **Now Drinking** Thread

I like cocktails. Don't care if it's not "manly". :)
Got a few favourites but there was this one cocktail I tried here:

which is the Skylounge bar (top floor) in the Mint hotel Amsterdam. Rubish phone pic but nice view of dam we got. The cocktail was a lemon bon bon, and everyone was saying it only tastes good because a) it cost 14 euros a cocktail! and b) Amsterdam substances make everything taste great.

I begged to differ and said it was nice. So I looked it up and bought some ingredients to make one at home. It's taken me about 6 attempts (not all tonight!) but now I can get it tasting as good as in the hotel. There are many takes on it including the use of limoncello liquer, but I use real lemons instead. I have also seen one where you add an egg white for a frothy top to make it more like the sherbert style sweets you used to get.

Anyway...

Take a glass and frost the rim if you like
Add crushed ice (if you like)
Then in a shaker I add:
2 to 2.5 shots of fresh squeezed lemon juice
1.5 shots of vanilla syrup (Monin Vanille)
2 shots of Butterscotch schnapps
3/4 shot of vodka
1 teaspoon of caster sugar
Ice
......then shake and pour through the strainer of your shaker into glass.

Looks something like this.

Imagine butterscotch angel delight, with a lemon tang, ice cold and sweet with a nice kick.

EDIT: That's not a line of coke on the side board. ;)

Shift your bum, go buy some :p

3rd can Carlsberg
Even if I go buy some now and stick it in the freezer, it still won't be cold until much later. Unless I buy a bag of ice cubes too? Or drive to a pub but I don't fancy going to a pub all by myself just for a bottle of cider :D

I'll just drink Ribena Plus instead :(

Do it!

You might even meet a nice fella in the pub. :p

Glen Garioch Founder's Reserve.

Sounds like a really good night to me, will have to keep any eye out for that kind of thing up here.
I'm currently enjoying a pint of Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA, it's really tasty.

Yea, it's good. I haven't heard of any established tasting nights in Aberdeen that are at all similar though. Next time I'm in the shop where the tastings are held, I'll ask one of the guys if they know of anything.
