Matey there are loads of them, best thing to do is pick a few each time you are in along with your regular whatever pack, this is what I tend to do. Well that and take a few pointers off say Ahleckz and Co. The beer I'm drinking at the minute (pic above) is from M&S and honestly can't recommend it enough, as for Asda try an Innis & Gunn , either the Blonde (blue label) or Original (red label). They will be something completely different for you, price too :p nudging £2 per bottle though Asda tend to offer this a lot at £3 for 2.

EDIT: LOL damn you Ahleckz!!! :D

morrisons i can comment on, i dont use asda.

moving from macro beers such as bud etc. you dont want too much of a shock to the taste buds.

moorlands Old golden hen. cracking easy pint with good hop flavour, not strong on bitterness but with a good flavor profile, excellent transition ale.

boston lager. ive seen it get a bad rap but honestly its a good lager for someone un familiar with craft ale, try it.

greene king ipa export, good beer with a bit more bitterness and slight hoppy flavor. definitely a good transition ale.

my three for you. you dont want a massive hoppy beer to start with, sierra nevada a must when you get accustomed, goose island or a good pint of guinness will do but start small. you will grow to appreciate.

must get to a m&s jester and give that a go.

best thing about drinking something that has been brewed a bit more lovingly is the hangovers dont seem quite so punishing :D

not for me any way.

right because im a greedy sod i have cracked a home brew st peters dry hop double c. i have 4 old golden in the cupboard.

on later reflection (second bottle) its a big hop beer, not sure how much will mellow but as it is its pretty big on flavour, maybe a tad to big for me? 5.9% darkish ipa. i think the st peters gives it a big bitterness.

could it be skunked/oxygenated....

Yea, I agree. Lack of chemicals I reckon...

I think the best thing for you to do vonex (I was playing a game earlier so could only give my default answer) is just grab a few different and interesting looking bottles from the World Beer sections in Morrison's (I'd personally go with Belgium & American stuff rather than the weird Ales from unknown British breweries) and see what you like. That's how I really got into beer, just drank my way through supermarkets and then moved into more obscure beer which they don't stock.

How old is it? Bitterness should mellow with age. Maybe throw in a bit of lemonade, might help it out if it's undrinkable. Could rescue the batch!

its been in primary 1 month, moved to bottle 10 days ago so maybe a bit apprehensive, it isnt undrinkable, its nice but bitter, im pretty green with good beer so im not going to deny hop flavours and effect on beer do escape me but im also only just starting in high hop territory.

doesn't help i have no friends who drink anything els but stella :(

Should have lost a fair bit of bitterness by then, did you follow a recipe and calculate the hops according to their Alpha levels? Not much you can do about it now to be honest - but for big ales it can take up to 3 months to really meddle and be great. Fear not, sure it'll be fine.

Got any recent pics of your set up?

one thing i havnt done is taken pictures of my set up. i will though.

no recipe, just a kit with a lot of dry hop but dry hopping shouldnt add bitterness so im not sure where it has come from, ill keep it in the bottle and start a fresh batch, been meaning to get some star san so i will this time, will take some worry out of the equation.

70g cascade 70g colombus in the fv for 14 days.

Glass of 2011 Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre from Australia. It's pretty nice.

DJ - you'll be happy. I bought a bottle of Innis & Gunn Blonde as well for tonight. Fancied wine, so only got one bottle but I shall let you know the results. There is no chance I'm buying the rum finish one though! Bleugh.

Tried it a while ago, wasn't impressed at the time. However, it's getting a large following in here so willing to give it a second attempt.
