How did you find it? Bought a 2l bottle of it a few weeks back and was disappointed

Very sweet. To be honest it didn’t taste that different from the original!

I'm an occasional drinker and only drink red wine. I've just finished a bottle of Californian Merlot called 'Barefoot' which was very nice. Today I've bought a bottle from Aldi called Pierre Jaurant Bordeaux which tastes quite different and smoother, also very nice and only £5.29. It has been compared to a £3,000 bottle drank by the Beckhams as being as good!

I'm a bit of smooth red wine fan and found the French wines are a lot smoother than the US. A good Spanish older 'grand' Roja is smooth with tannins but simpler in taste.

In reference to the Beckhams, in 2014 this was the Christmas alcohol at my parents:

Cheval Blanc 2001 and Remy Martin XO.
The red was stunningly 3D with St.Emilion, Pomerol and mineral like a chablis all separately identifiable. Smooth with tannins.

I also bought my parents a anniversary present Margaux (£85) that they put to the back of the cupboard untouched for years, only for them to announce they've given up alcohol (medical grounds) and they're returning the wine. I opened that up with a mate that loves his red wine. Gave it over night stood upright, hours of breathing time in a decanter - that was probably one of the best wines I've tasted. Stunningly smooth. We both agreed that was really good, the next bottle of normal wine tasted like gearbox oil in comparison.

Now when we're in France I'll just go to one of the local supermarkets - the wine quality off the shelf is orders of magnitude for decent prices. I'll pick up a few bottles, but given the mrs doesn't drink and the old wine drinking mate divorced his mrs (who is the best French friend of my mrs) who could finish 3-4 bottles himself(!), I have a large overstock from my 50th party purchase over a year ago.. Had a blow out of the old wines recently with a group (to cycle through).

Wouldn't knock West Yorkshire breweries too much, I've had a lot of local stuff when I lived in a BD postcode and a lot of it aint half bad!
