I just want to say not all chefs are complete tossers. About 80% of us, but not all.

At least you're man enough to admit it. Lots of big egos and bad attitudes in pro kitchens and too many fussy arguments and pompous personal opinions. The higher up you get the worse the problem becomes and there's no tolerance for being friendly and having a laugh during prep or service. I left the industry about 15 years ago due to stress and depression.

I'm 55 now (actually 56 in 2 weeks).
Worked 30 years in catering and left ABOUT 15 years ago.
If I left about 15 years ago that means I quit at 40-45ish but I can see you're just trying to be a smarty pants buy highlighting that I must've been working in kitchens when I was 10 based on the general numbers/time frame I gave (duh).

You've clearly too much time on your hands if you go looking for little dramas and typing errors like this and tbh that seems like a sad/pathetic to do. I don't know the exact dates/months/year of various episodes of my life but I was 15 when I first got a commis job and I quit full time pro catering early 40s and still worked freelance/agency for a short while after that but you can go and figure out all that if you want to specifically determine if I did exactly 30 years, 27, 25, or 23.

Thanks for wasting 10 minutes of my life goading me into replying to your "bait" post. Lesson learned. Thanks.

It's a £25 half barrel job from Asda, thinking about getting a proper one with a smoker next year (Masterbuilt 560 is top of the list atm).

Range have got the cheaper barrel smoker for around £62 atm

Not the best, but not a bad price for a couple of years use.

This one

But only available at Chatham Kent outlet
