Maccy's belated wedding present.
That food/art looks spectacular, unfortunately I now need a new keyboard due to salivating. I'm surprised at the pricing though as although it is obviously going to be a bit pricey (And by the looks of the photo well worth it :D) it seems reasonable for the quality.

Just out of curiosity how did it taste? :)

Delicious. I'd been there before in 2011 with a girlfriend but hadn't been back since.

Cooked to perfection, though Maccy's wife opted for the marinated steak and it was fully medium rather than medium-rare (which is a shame) though we and the waiter weren't sure if it was partly due to being a darker meat. Still tasted very good, hand cut chips, sauces, veg etc also on point. Good wine too.

Sorbets & Ice-cream were also hnnng and I'm somewhat of an Ice-cream aficionado :D

Inb4 Maccy wades in stating he actually hated it :p

A ratatouille inspired meal:
butter beans, kidney beans, courgettes, four red chillis, red pepper and chorizo in a rich tomato sauce served on cous cous.

Currently unwell so have been watching fair bit of day time TV. Fake Britain has covered takeaway food yesterday and today and their findings may be of interest to some of you guys on here.

Yesterday's episode: the cheese on pizza found not to actually be cheese. 'Cheese analogue' looks and smells like cheese but is not. It's not diary cheese and doesn't contain cheese fat. Much cheaper ingredients than real cheese. They bought pizzas from Sheffield, London and Birmingham and found 1 in 5 was fake. In Preston and Chorley they found fake cheese in from 19 out of the 20 shops they sampled.

This doesn't come as a surprise to me with a number of super cheap pizza shops popping up everywhere offering crazy deals like 3 pizzas for 10 quid etc. Something has got to give, which is why I always avoid them.

Today's episode: lamb kebab meat is some of the most expensive, they did some inspections from takeaway shops sampling what was advertised as 'lamb kebabs' but it was found to actually be mixed meat containing 42% beef.

If you've gathered, yes I am very very bored!

If it looks, smells and tastes like cheese then no one really cares. You don't buy from those sort of places expecting a healthy meal made with top quality ingredients.

Been away a lot lately and haven't had a chance to get shopping so I had a "what's in the fridge" omelette this morning - namely garlic, chilli and Roquefort cheese. Was edible but not particularly pleasant. Roquefort doesn't work all that well in an omelette.

In other news, the spicy chicken pizza I got on the way home from the pub last night was one of the hottest things I've ever eaten. My poor ringpiece :(

There's an article on Serious Eats where they took beef, chicken, etc and mixed it with (e.g.) lamb fat when cooking. In blind taste tests many people couldn't tell the difference /infomercial.

Most people can't tell what stuff is unless it looks like what it actually is. The power of the mind is significantly sight biased.

The experiments where they make the same stuff, but change the colour with food colourings is just mind boggling. Only like 1 in a 100 say they taste the same.

More scrambled eggs on toast.

Hot wings to night, extra extra hot. With roast veg to mop up the incredible sauce.
