**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Hi atomic:) I'm assuming Boston Lincolnshire? I swear we don't try and hog the sun down here in the west country:D Thanks for the warm welcomes guys:) I didn't intend to derail the thread so apologies Mr Boom sir! As a fellow west country man I hope you'll let this one slide:D Just to cover myself....Nvidia forever!! (but keep the pressure on AMD!:D)

yep sunny i wish lincolnshire :)

Thanks Tex:D I'm all set for the High end Maxwell Cards after resisting AMD'S latest round but the thought of waiting until 2015 is almost unbearable:eek: (I know first world problems:p) These latest drivers have certainly shown my 480's still have some poke and I guess I've waited this long but mannnn:D

Welcome Ashen, we green guys could use some back up around these forums as you've probably noticed :D Enjoy your stay and be vigilant ;)

Does anyone have any more info on the shader cache that 337.50 brings?

eg: does it work with DX11, does it actually help, how much data does it write etc

The cache is located at
Code:
C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache

Every time I've looked, it's been between 50 and 300 MB, so presumably there's some kind of limit. I've just now wiped the folder completely and run Crysis in DX9 - shaders were saved. Far as I can tell, the CPU compiles each shader once, then it's saved to the disk.

Loading into BF4's test range and not touching anything, FPS was at 98 with it enabled. Clearing the cache, disabling it and reloading the Test Range caused FPS to drop to 89. Still nowhere near as bad as the previous drivers, mind.

The sun's shining here today mate so I'm sure it's on the way if it's not already arrived:)

New recruit reporting for duty sir:D with my 480's though I'll probably be on kitchen duties:D (in before I could use them to boil the tatties on:D) That's one thing I've not really noticed is much of an increase in temps with the new drivers so seems to be win win for me but this is all based on conjecture rather than facts:) focused and vigilant but I must confess LtMatt often has very persuasive points:o...must resist stay focused:D

^^ yep sun is very bright today, I switched form red to green due to the amount of faulty 290s i had tried and about 4 months of constant pc up and down while waiting on RMAs etc to be sorted. Got a 780TI and not looked back, for me it just works, no messing about running AB etc just install drivers and thats been pretty much it :)

I'm glad things are working for you now:) It can be so frustrating when you know everything else is fine with your rig but one part keeps giving you grief! I have to agree that I've not had a problem with Nvidia drivers in the past few years and when I did it was my 8800 GTS's on the way out:( I maaay have been pushing them a bit though:D I guess if I'm honest though ATI (AMD)drivers didn't cause me any prob's in the long and distant past...ATI Rage pro:o:D

Wow that is some time ago lol, i always bought ATi/AMD but this current gen for me was too Problematic and so i bought what i have now. Im not a fanboy of either, just want a good performer with few problems as possible.

not played BF4 for a few weeks and not tested new drivers, no idea what i got before but this is 64p flood zone on full ultra, not too shabby for 1 card ;) would like the mins higher though, usually drop a few settings for normal use to achieve this

Not sure if it was a new bug with 337.50 drivers as I've not played it for awhile but since whatever drivers I last played Test Drive Unlimited 2 on and then giving it a quick whirl again on 337.50 the skid marks have become solid purple instead of rendering the rubber marks. (Could be a problem with the shader cache feature - don't have time to test it on/off atm as IIRC the game does something a bit funky with the shaders used for decals to handle changes due to weather effects and time of day).

^^ not a bug apparently as Batman does the same thing. I'd raise it on the NV forums as they are trying to sweep it under the carpet by calling it part of the effects lol

(NOT A BUG,nothing to fix) Batman: Arkham Origins displays purple smoke with driver update

Its not really smoke its when you do a critical hit, there is a purple shockwave. Smoke is not adequate.
