**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

People over on guru3d reporting nvidia upscaling that was only meant to work for the 970/980 works on their 780 with these new drivers. Have to use nvidia inspector to enable it.

nvidia have said it will come to 700 series cards fully but after some time there still testing it. (beta)

you can still use in inspector though & till its enabled in GFE

How much bloat are they packaging up with their drivers now? All I want is graphics and physics.

Why can't we just get a basic driver download?

Does anyone know if with the GTX 980 cards and a SB-E X79 system you still need the Gen3 Registry mod?

This:
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3135/~/geforce-gen3-support-on-x79-platform

Suggests that with some newer products you don't. I'm not sure if 980s are not included because they don't or just because the page hasn't been updated.

Well mine are at PCI-E 2.0 now so I'm going to run the tweak now.

EDIT; After running the tweak GPU-Z is reporting PCI-E 3.0 so yes it does need forcing.

Download driver>custom install>uncheck everything besides graphics and physx driver, problem solved.

Which is what I do. But I'd rather not have to download 200 MB of tat every time. The UK driver used to be ~80 MB now it is 305 MB. It'll not be long before it is half a gig.

Are you on 56k or limited to 1-2GB per month like some ISP's did years ago?

Drivers/updates/games are all bigger but ISP are faster.

So just because downloads are faster and unlimited it is OK to triple the size of a driver by packaging it up with a load of tat?

Just think about how many people download these drivers. That is a lot of wasted bandwidth.

As tech gets more complicated so does software and thus file size.

Look at BIOS update files when you compare Z97 vs X99, its 8MB vs 16MB

He is making a big deal over nothing.

Best to no install Windows in that case, as service packs+updates are "massive".

Wonder if he recycles. :p

But they still only include the BIOS files you need. I bet they don't come with a BIOS Experience app.

But they are useful things that I want and choose to download.

My issue here is not really the file size. It is the fact that they are now bundling in loads of crap which I have to download and which installs by default unless I specify otherwise. It is one step away from those installers which try to install other free trial software during the installation.

But clearly it only bothers me so I'll shut up.

Geforce experience is vital to SLI users due to it constantly downloading and updating SLI profiles without the user having to do anything. Its also the direct and only conduit for shadowplay.

It takes less than 1 minute to download the driver package, You choose what you want to install which in the case of most of us here is just the driver and Physx and boom your done, Not a big deal, They offer the package as a convenience as I and I'm guessing many others would much rather have everything in 1 small 250-300 mb package than downloading separate files.

Modded 344.24 WHQL drivers allow DSR on Kepler cards

32 Bit DL

64 Bit DL

I think I'll test this on my 780, Thank you :)

*EDIT*

Skyrim with 4 x DSR, Max smoothness setting on modded drivers with a 780 non Ti, Max in game settings no mods installed, Don't have anything else installed on this HTPC so can't test it further yet, Performance seemed very smooth but I didn't have Fraps running.
