**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

I managed to install the latest nvidia Windows 10 driver this morning.

I ran the latest version of DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and let the pc reboot into safe mode, let it remove all the crud.. rebooted, and then installed the new drivers.

Seemed to work for me?

Are people using driver uninstall tools like DDU with success? I remember years back that it was always best to avoid uninstalling drivers this way and so I uninstall manually.

ATI is easy as you can use express uninstall all, Nvidia is more of a pain as you need to uninstall several items individually from the control panel (at least two restarts) then all I do is look for the redundant ATI/Nvidia (depending on what card I have) folders in the following places and delete them:

C:\
C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files(x86)
C:\Users\SomeUser\AppData\Roaming
C:\Users\SomeUser\AppData\Local

Then it's simply a case of a good clean with CCleaner for Files and Registry then I'm ready to install the latest driver package.

Not sure if I could rely on a third party driver remover tool.

What is the best driver for windows 10 at the moment? The NVidia driver from windows updates will not install always fails.

So... I know Windows 10 has been an issue. I am putting my 980 in tomorrow. Coming from team red, run DDU and install the latest Nvidia drivers? Is there any I should avoid?

I am running Windows 10 as I post this. :)

This W10 seems to be causing loads of problems with drivers reading about, think i'll hang fire with W7 until MS sort their **** out.

Same here, seems even Creative are not going to have a lot of drivers ready till October 2015 (going by Creative's history they will either come out broken or missing a lot of the features or come out even later than they state which is very normal for them)... http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=126331 BUT the funny part is Microsoft's Compatibility Center says it is compatible https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/win...ofessional+&Type=Hardware&tempOsid=Windows 10 :rolleyes:

My biggest headache is always sound card drivers from Creative and now seems like Nvidia are also about to break a lot of peoples working computers.. Will either wait here till Service Pack 1 comes out for Windows 10 or do a image of the Windows 7 system first and then do a trial run setup and see what it breaks and if I can live with it in next few months, will not rush into it until probably October-Decemeber time.. Hopefully by that time a lot of the problems are solved, if not and I keep reading drivers are broken, drivers are not really ready and missing features or making my expensive hardware behave like budget gear then no thanks until it all works right. I can do without the teething headaches of a new OS, been there done that too many times in the past and learned a valuable lesson from that.

I hear ya! I haven't the time or patience, messing about fault finding & **** if it goes belly up.

Sticking with the trusty old W7 until the dust settles.
