**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

My 1070 has an odd scrolling artifact in Steam when browsing the store. Working with no issues in game though, tried Doom (Vulkan) on them for a while.

Is it like heavy tearing near bottom half of the screen when scrolling the page?

For some reason V-Sync turns itself on in the Nvidia control panel once after every couple of games.

I have it set to Fast but it auto changes for some reason every now and then

Pita, every reboot VSync On is defaulting here, had to make a game profile to stop Rottr running@60Hz on 144Hz G-Sync.

thought you need Vsync in the CP to be on for G-sync to work

Nah the V-Sync option controls G-Sync behaviour - V-Sync on with G-Sync on limits your framerate to the max refresh rate and G-Sync is always enabled, V-Sync off in the nv cpl with G-Sync on means that G-Sync is applied upto the max refresh and disabled when you can render above the max refresh which gives lower latency and the best handling of lower framerates for competitive FPS games if you don't mind some tearing in high framerate situations.

For some games it is worth disabling V-Sync while G-Sync is on and manually capping just below the refresh rate of the monitor for lowest latency as otherwise in some situations V-Sync rules will apply and the game will stall on VWAIT causing additional latency.

well you learn something new.....ta :D

For some reason nVidia don't seem to have properly documented it - or the changes in recent drivers with how it work with G-Sync on and V-Sync on which can cause lower framerates and situationally additional input latency.

Didn't know that, cheers. That probably explains why I keep noticing v-sync being set to on. :)

V-Sync turning itself on is a bug I think - though if you toggle G-Sync off and back on again it will turn V-Sync back on regardless of what you had set last time G-Sync was enabled :| on some systems I think this behaviour happens on start up as well as the G-Sync mode gets enabled late.

I usually just leave it set to on and then configure each application profile separately as desired anyhow.

That shouldn't happen (60Hz) - aslong as G-Sync is enabled even with V-Sync on it should sync at 144Hz not 60.

I know, so far only noticed the 60Hz cap in Rottr, it doesn't effect the 970, if you set Vsync/G-Sync On it goes>60fps.

On the 1070, it's hard locked@60fps unless you manually enable Fast Sync/G-Sync On or Vsync off/G-Sync On and every reboot NCP shows Vsync defaulting to Vsync On.

There is some change in recent drivers from about the 1080 launch with how G-Sync on + V-Sync on behaves :| I used to run 144Hz with 120fps cap in BF4 and get 120+ fps solid ("lowpro" config) but now it often hovers around 118fps in some areas and you can feels the V-Sync lag kicking in and out unless you turn V-Sync off in the control panel or enable Fast Sync - wonder if its a change with regard to Fast Sync being implemented.

Which is probably why its doing 60fps I guess in ROTTR as it seems some functionality of V-Sync is working at the game level - you probably aren't getting enough above 60fps now to get to the next V-Sync multiplier.

^^ I dunno details just know there is a entry about it on the feedback centre and seen 1-2 people posting in the Windows section about it.

NVIDIA GeForce 369.00 Beta

Yeah been doing a bit of looking up and can't say I've noticed any issues - not sure whether to install LatencyMon and go looking or just leave it alone.

Have also seen a comment that earlier CPUs don't exhibit the problem although I don't know how true that is.

I do all my gaming on 360 pad...never had an issue
Same here (except I use mouse and keyboard for shooters, RTS etc). Would that have anything to do with graphics drivers anyway? I would think the controller doesn't interact with the GPU in any way, until the game tells it what to render.
