**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Thx for reply, do most people not chouse clean install anymore, i know years ago it was a right hassle updating drivers, like in safe mode etc, and driver cleaners and all that, only wanting to upgrade because of the new vulcan thing for Doom etc

Clean install is recommended, but you will lose all your settings, you can always risk a normal install and if you see issues redo it with a clean.

I always chose clean install when installing as I don't have many settings to amend.

Power level set to adaptive, vsync on certain games set to adaptive, and then HDMI audio via nvc is disabled.

I have only ever updated without doing this once, but unfortunately I got a load of errors with SLI. I reckon it was a very unique instance but considering it takes me 5 more minutes, I would rather just clean install

They ain't on the website?

Anyone able to launch DOOM and try these new drivers with the Vulkan API?

Be interesting to see because vulkan runs awful on my 980.

I'm seeing progress but it still isn't working right - before was seeing constant CPU frame spikes to 100-110ms in Doom which was killing performance and making it stuttery - with these drivers it is only spiking to ~38ms with the result that framerate numbers are on par or slightly above Open GL but still not as smooth.

I'm wondering if it could be that on this kind of setup Vulkan and Hyper Threading aren't playing nice but I can't test that right now.
