**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Has anyone else had a problem with the Nvidia control panel not saving settings?

Every time I turn on my PC either, Use Nvidia settings in desktop colour settings has gone back to application controlled or it's switched the Output dynamic range from Full to Limited.

Id use DDU and do what Wrinkly says above (great tip btw) but I don't want to lose all my settings.

If I saved the current profile in Nvidia inspector would that save all the individual game settings I've tweaked as well, so I could just import it after a fresh install?

On many drivers but its random.

Nope. Saying that I don’t adjust desktop settings but do it through DisplayCal.

Ok, I agree. A pain it is.

So what's your favorite driver then?

I’m currently on 381.65. Think my favourite was 382.33 but I cannot really tell the difference. Later drivers with some started having bugs with 2D clocks.

For those that seem to be stuck in 3D mode with their GPU clocks. I think it's the monitor refresh rate problem again. I set my monitor to 120Hz from 144Hz and it went from the 1589Mhz or what ever it was 15xx something anyway back to 139Mhz instantly at desktop. So seems like this problem has come back again.

Windows 10 keeps installing 388.13 - which ruins my gaming performance totally.
I've tried a few things to try and stop it installing the driver automatically - but none of it worked.
Anyone know a way that 100% works?

There's a setting to disable automatic updates in DDU.

Use an OS that wasn't designed by absolute muppets :( or use a 3rd party tool like DDU or you can mess about with GPEdit if you have the professional version of the OS or higher.

Are you running a version older than 388.13? Update to the latest 388.31 and you should be good.

Saying that you might run in to the reverse issue which I've experienced in the past.

Whilst uninstalling the drivers and trying to install new ones, windows might attempt to download it's own drivers and install those simultaneously. Really messing things up.

These days I always update my GPU drivers with my network cable unplugged. (or just disable the ethernet connection temporarily)

OK thanks.

I might have to try out DisplayCal then.

You can install gpedit if you don't have it.

I had to do it on my Home version other day to disable some gubbins.

With Windows 10 can have undesirable results on versions of the OS it isn't "intended" for if you don't know what you are doing. Though that is also true of stuff like regedit so...
