DDU causes more problems than it solves.

Never had a problem with it personally, and it solved a couple of driver issues for me in the past.

Yes but the point is, too many people out there are treating this tool like everyday maintenance. It's a last resort tool.

I have used this program once, from going from AMD to Nvidia. That's it the only time I've used it.

This, it caused me to have corrupted install of windows and i had to fix and start a fresh. I have never used it since, and seen other reports of this too.

397.93 is a pretty solid release. I haven't tried the latest yet.

I’ve gotta say I upgraded to the new one, not the hotfix and bf1 didn’t seem as smooth on my 980ti

Think I'm 5 drivers behind, if they work for me I rarely update them, though farcry 5 keeps bugging me too

Had this problem with my Dell 7567 on the last two drivers so found this, might be helpful for others.

In a very brief test last night, i found that 398.18 to be better than the non-hotfix version, but it could be a red-herring for my situation.
